Infiltrating Broodlord

After what seems like decades painting up hordes of Orks and 'Nids, we're assembling a small but nasty Bieltan force.

The theme is definitely green... I have green flock, Army Painter meadow flowers and Warlord summer rubble to enliven the bases, as well as some tinted oregano (!) for an autumnal feel. But what colours should I use for dry-brushing the bases?

I think I need a dark brown, so I've washed with Rhinox Hide. I think overall it should be brown, to contrast with the flock, plus the figure, and so the whole thing's not too green. I'll only add odd bits of flowers, grass, to give the idea of a damp forest, I think.
What would you use? Feel free to post pix or links.

Some of the troops will be mostly pale grey, using the alternative Biel Tan scheme, so final result needs to complement that, too

(and feel free to tell me what to paint the edge of the base. ).

TIA!

this is where we're at right now with basecoat and one highlight. Guns will be black/grey, and helmets/loincloth very pale grey.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

I do a lot of grasslands/forest bases and I've got a simple earth/mud effect that I use as my base.
I base with the Texture Paint Stirland Mud(you've already got your preferred "base", that's fine), I wash with Nuln Oil, heavy drybrush Rhinox Hide, drybrush Mournfang Brown, light drybrush Ushabti Bone. Then random flock per your reference.
Good luck!

This is gonna sound really weird, but, brown, and tans.

When i think of a damp forest i think of the sierra nevada mountains, which if you ever go into a forest, there is not a whole lot of foliage.

It also depends on what part of the forest you are in, if you are in a heavily wooded area, there will not be much under growth, and if anything you might see roots, and mostly dried leaves and pine needle on the ground, and dirt.

If you are on the edge of the forst, a lot more undergrowth. So oddly enough, not so much green as you would think, more dark browns and tans, to really drive home the, "its in a forest." thing look at getting some fake leves for modeling, they exist out there, and its really cheap

Best advice to know how to base something, google and image of it.

To many unpainted models to count.
