The aesthetics fit well for sure, and it's clear that the production value is high on this conversion. Well done!

Buuuuut speaking in fluff terms - the Necrons would never use such crude and clunky machinery! Even their least-talented Crypteks would cringe at the idea of hijacking Imperial technology.

I have to agree, kind of a "neat, but what's the point?" feeling. Nice LED work.

Why so serious? I didnt knew i need a point but ok....

"Imotekh the Strormlord" Hyperlogical Strategist. ,, Imotekh has but one weakness - a compulsion to humble and disfigure his foes rather than slaying them.....´´
Can you imagine a hyperlogical strategist with sadistic tendencies uses enemy weapons against them if he has the chance?

I like to play Dawn of War the Destroyer Lord in that game has the ability to capture enemy vehicles.....

I think it's a neat model conversion, I guess my issue is more - will it be used in a game? If so, awesome.

If not...I'm just one of those guys who struggles to see so much time and effort go into things which will sit on a shelf. I can't fathom spending money/time on a model and subsequent painting without getting some genuine use out of it.

You planning on running it in a game as a Monolith or something weird? Or do you play with a group which will hopefully let you use some home-brew rules?

To be honest i have never played. It is the 3rd model after a overlord and Szeras....
Most of its Necron features are from the Annihilation barge i think i will play it as that...
And if i find a group that can modify the rules why not?... We will see
Im planing to build 2 more... also necron but different stile / function

Is this much bigger then the annihilation barge? If so, you are hurting your chances for a cover save, unless you don't care, theres that too lol

Ah ok... i havnt known that the rules are that precise..... XD So if i lose stats by size i also gain stats for armor or what XD ?

Just do what I do with mine and just have it as an imperial knight. Personally I like the design of it as it reminds me of my own necron imperial knight.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

Yup, I just use it as a paladin knight or knight errant with my necron army. They are CTA alliance wise to one another but I personally fluff that as the necron knight is on loan and other necrons aren't sure what to think about it.

You could also easily use it as a counts-as Monolith. It's basically the same size - I doubt anyone would freak about it being a bit shorter. It's probably best suited as a Monolith during play if you have a proper Necron army.

To cover all your bases about size arguments, if you'd be willing to model a couple more tentacles near the top to close the gap in height, you'd be golden:

If you play it as a renegade knight, then it's Allies of Convenience instead of Come the Apocalypse

I love the creativity and execution of this model! It looks really sinister and merges the Necron aesthetic with the Imperial aesthetic extremely well.

Do hobbyists who build and paint fine scale models also baffle you? None of those are connected to a rule set and yet there is an avid community of model builders who could put to shame some of the best efforts done by our community of painters.

Not every "game" model needs to see table time to be "worth" the effort. Some people like to indulge their creative sides and use gaming models as a canvas for that creative outlet. Personally I think that sort of impulse should encouraged in our community.

You could always replace the sphere on the top with a Monolith crystal. it'd look funny as hell

I'm pretty sure he was joking about not enough LEDs. I think this conversion is great, love the paint scheme and tentacles.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Using this as a renegade knight is definitely the way to go.

Honestly? Yes.

I see, you came here looking for the "airbrush comission studio" advertisements that keep spamming this forum. Or did you just get lost?

@OP, nice work, I get the feel of a semi "borg" household in the thrall of a necron lord.

You can't point that same logic at any other model on this forum...

I really can't understand the point in arguing over your issues over his motivations as a collector. It only matters if he cares about it's purpouse, not you.

If you have critique on how he can make the model better, or what you like then fine. It's rather mean spirited and pointless to argue over the models purpose though.

@ The OP

Awesome work bud! I can't imagine the time involved feeding the wires through all that conversion work, awesome idea.

It's a pretty cool model.

Personally, I'd just use it as an IK ally to my Necron force.
