Hey !

Recently I decided to paint up some Sigmar models, and after a ton of debate decided to give Fyreslayer models a crack.

My only issue was that I dont like painting Lava , or any oranges and related colours very much. So to remedy this I thought what alternative colours can I do fire, and work from there.

After remembering the blue flamed character in the Hercules cartoons as a kid, I decided on a Hades themed underworld style. I mean, the chase for Ur-Gold takes you to some strange places, right ?

I hope the pics are ok, working with a makeshift setup at the moment taking pictures

Note : On one of the models there is a rock and the PVA glue is clearly not dry yet ( Sorry , just noticed when reviewing the photos! )

First off, nicely painted.

Second, you've made the alternative scheme work. Personally, I would have used a different color for the runes though.

Thanks !

What colours would you have done ? I wracked my brain on what I could use and it came down to Gold or Glowing greens. I went for the latter but the glowing effect wasnt quite what I envisioned Im very interested to hear feedback

Agreed with AesSedai, very nice work. If you wanted an alternative to the green, one option would be blue. It would be less stark against the pale skin, and it also works well with green.

Blue actually is a good idea... Would have tied in nicely with the hair

You could go with purple runes to make them tie in with blue but still be something different.
Personally I think the purple would look great against the pale skin, but they might look a bit sinister.

Not that green is a bad choise though.

I like the alternate colour scheme...still find the models absolutely atrocious.

Easily the best dwarf color scheme ever. I've been looking for an alternate scheme for my dwarves for years and i just found it! My feedback on the runes would be black so they would look like tribal tattoos. That would look cool i think. But i love the green. Keep it up! any chance you could give us a run down on how you made that wonderful skin tone?

Thats a brilliant scheme! Really like it- i haven't been too keen on the fyreslayers and I'm a big dwarf fan but your scheme has changed my perspective - might have a crack at them myself and pinch your blue beard idea. I think the green is fine - you could play about with the tone a bit if you wanted to change it. more blue might be too much.

I'm glad people are inspired by these guys

While i'm really proud of how they came out, they did test my sanity in precise brush work and so I've switched to Destruction (Savage ork/Bonesplittas and Ironjawz primarily )

I'm happy you've gotten some inspiration from these lads.
Certainly, the recipe (from memory) was :
Layer - Administratum Grey
Wash - Nuln Oil
Layer - Ulthaun Grey ( many many many thin layers )
Layer - White Scar (Very watered down/thin, and only on large patches of each muscle group, pretty much just bringing the bulk of each muscle to a lighter tone leaving the edges ulthaun).

That's pretty much it

Thank you !

I'm glad they've given you a fresh perspective ! I myself also liked the models/concept but absolutely hated the Orange beard and Lava style ( just not my thing).
