So after a long hiatus from model painting, 20 years or more i'm planning on making some efforts to return to the hobby. When I originally played 40K it was pure paint by numbers, no primer, 1 paint brush for everything, more mistakes than you can imagine, suffice to say my efforts were poor. My parents recently moved and my old Long Fang unit were still part finished in the box, a pang of nostalgia and in the bin they went. Wish I had them now to show where I coming from. Anyway accelerate to present day and I'm attempting some terminator space wolves, armed with some Youtube knowledge, an airbrush, more than 1 paint brush, some decent paints, and a nice little set up in my garage and hopefully I may get something that I would be proud to show off.
I purchased a couple of tactical marine squads cheap off eBay and have used these as practice for the airbrush to get the hang of priming, base coating, highlighting and shading. I'm not there yet but the more I use the airbrush the better I can see myself getting.
So onto those terminators.
Initially constructed the main guy (not sure in the lore how to refer to him) completely and primed him up. The remaining 4 are being painted in sub sections first before fitting, other noob mistake was not getting rid of all flash lines, some are showing up, think I was just excited to get the kit and get started. Oh well first mistakes made and lessons learned. Remaining sections are getting a thorough flash removal.
Think i've got the hang of Vallejo grey primer through the airbrush, PSI around 15, not sure if its been laid on a bit too thick
Have progressed with some base coating of the legs of one of the other minis, think the finish is looking ok. Next steps will be base coat main guy and other legs and start some highlighting/shading.
Comments/advice/criticism all appreciated and accepted.
