Virulent Space Marine dedicated to Nurgle

Hey guys, looking to possibly rebuild my ancient Death Guard army, so did a quick test plague marine. The old army was in the original legion colours, so that's what I was going for here. While it was fun to paint, I think I'd rather have a colour scheme that looked better on the tabletop, that pops a bit more from a distance. Any suggestions or feedback welcome

Outer Space, Apparently

Loving the model and the paint scheme - looks like the paint itself is rotting

I'd personally add some form of rot or decay to the plant on the base, as it kinda stands out like a sore thumb both visually and in terms of Plague Marines literally corrupting their immediate environment.

Other than that, good work

Very nice mini! If you're worried about the mini's colours scheme not catching enough attention then you might want to think twice about the very bright shrubbery though. Armies look different from a distance than individual minis though, so maybe complete a squad like this and see what happens?

Thanks! I'm not loving the base myself, it was mostly an attempt to have something that stood out visually from a distance. I'll probably go with a more urban basing scheme in future. If I can make the head the focal point on future plague marines I think I'll be much happier with the overall aesthetic.

I don't think the base is a problem; all you need to do is make that shrub look wilted and dead. Perhaps use some Typhus Corrosion and Nurgle's rot for that.

If you want the head to be the focal point, then I'd change the shoulder pad colours so they don't clash with the white on the helm. That being said, the nature of the helmet drew my eye before the shrub did, so it's kinda working!

I will say that shrub isn't as bright IRL, the lighting of the picture makes it look far more luminescent than it really is, but I'll certainly experiment in the meantime. I will not be abandoning shrubbery on the bases altogether, but in future it'll be darker and I do want to make the bases a little more elaborate, incorporating some rubble or other urban elements.

My current thinking is that future models will have the proper space marine type helmets, so glowing blue eyes might do the trick. Alternatively, the new FW Death Guard scheme is an off-white colour, so that might work for the shoulder pads.

Thanks for the input, it's really helped. I'm ordering up some bits so should have another model to show in a few weeks.
