SLA Industries: Cannibal Sector 1 goes to Kickstarter on 9th August, there are a bunch of cool minis out so far but the Kickstarter is focussing on the rulebook as they intend to keep releasing the miniatures month after month.
https://www.facebook.com/daruma.productions/ - You can see the minis so far on this page, but the Carrien Pack is due out very soon and the renders are amazing! I've attached a few photos and images to this thread but if you loved SLA or just want to play a really cool game with gorgeous minis - Cannibal Sector 1 is gonna rock. The rules are open for Playtesting and feedback already, with the Scavs being added to the playtest factions in August.

Played the RPG a ton back in the 90s. The funniest thing was the text that came with the GM screen talking about how the game was not a big guns game and it was really about blah, blah, blah. Given that the system broke combat down into 0.6 second phases and tracked how many individual shells in a given burst hit their target, I LOLed.
I think as a miniature game it'll be far more focused as to what it is supposed to be about. And the miniatures look great so far. Might be my first KS that I actually pledge.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.
I tend to agree that they should be selling a KS bundle deal with the minis as well. It just makes sense to be a one-stop shop, given that it's a brand-new game (if, in a familiar setting).
Still, TBH, £25 for a book of Dave's artwork is a pretty sweet deal.
I got the chance to see the minis at Claymore. They're very nice, pretty crisp. I didn't have any real need for the miniatures so money went elsewhere. Sadly any attempts at getting a quick demo game or speaking with the folks behind the SLA revival were brushed off.
As for the kickstarter I understand they don't want to undermine retailers but the lack of convenience puts me off. When I'm backing for a miniature ruleset I'm swayed by two things. Amazing miniatures to go with it or pretty heavy rule exposure so I know what I'm getting. I'm not one to mine miniature rules for setting information, I'll stick with RPGs for that. So the lack of miniatures with this is pretty much a non starter unless they put up massive rulebook previews and the game fits whatever niche I'm looking for. Even if they wanted to sell very basic and limited starter sets at full RRP and let the FLGS have the discount, I'd be happy with that for the convenience factor.

Did you read the KS? They are supporting Gaming stores by not having the miniatures avaliable to buy through the KS. It is in fact a good move IMO and is all ready pulling in an impressive amount.

Ill post here same as I did in the KS. The local stores carrying the range are not even on the same continent Im on.
For some of us who are interested in tossing some money at this, the 25 for the minis plus the 15 for international shipping plus 1-5% currency conversion charge depending on credit card used, makes the range pretty spendy.
Im happy your/their local store carries the range. Id be interested in buying some minis but for all those fees, Ill take a pass.

They have a distributor in the US now. Some place called K&A Games. Couldn't find a we store but a FB page. You can now be happy as well!!

Yeah I read the KS because I was interested but not including gangs in the pledge levels made me lose that interest. It's great that you presumably have a store nearby that is gonna stock the miniatures but I don't. Also great that it's funded but you gotta wonder how much more they would pull in if they had pledge levels with gangs.

I dont actually have a store near me but I like how they are doing this. If you get all your bits via a KS then a GS and or webstore will be less inclined to stock the product thus limiting the product growth.

I see you didn't read the Update. They now have a retailer south of Saint Louis, MO. The retailers FB update would appear to be a long time SLA fan, who ownes a store, and is stocking product. I did not find a website presence and in fact, many game stores do not have web carts to sell product. This retailer stocking product is a nice start. If they get into distribution here in the States or do a deal with Miniatures Market, FRP Games, Warstore, Noble Knight games, ect. that would actually make product available to a broad swatch of the states.
To put the distance in perspective, for me to drive from Saint Paul, MN to this town in MO, would be the equivalent of you driving from London to Inverness.
Id like the game to succeed, for that to happen, the rules and minis needs to be in the hands of people that want them.

I believe K&A Games are working on a webstore. You could just email or call them to see if they will send the product to you. Can't see why you would drive there?

Because if I have to call them or email them (which I cant because none is listed), then they are not set up for remote ordering. If they are not set up for remote ordering, then a whole slew of issues from postage to tracking my order come up.
Im happy to see a retailer pick the line up. If they put up an online store, Ill consider placing an order. Hopefully more retailers sign up and one of them has an established webstore.
As it stands, I currently don't have a viable option to source the minis save from the company itself (see my original points). If my local group were to become interested, now this becomes a barrier to entry as well. They have to call a remote store in another state that's not set up for online ordering to get minis for a game that's on KS. When every other KS offers a starter set or minis option to backers.
Like it or not, KS has created the expectation that if you use it, you can source at least a starter set along with the KS offerings to play the game.
Do you see how this is a problem or are you just a local retail purist that you don't see the points I'm getting at here?

I'm no way a retail purist I buy 99% of my product online as I don't have a store near by. They have a FB page so it wouldn't hurt to send them a message to see if they can, no bother to me either way.
Other news here are the plates to rules: well I would link them but this site doesn't like copy and paste.
I understand your concern, but I also respect their choice to support FLGS's that have supported them as a company in their early days. We alteady have a faction in the form of the SLops and there is talk of a 6th unrevealed faction that maybe funded. Otherwise they are looking at option of either a one off free shipping order or order from Webstore to be delivered with Kickstarter. Hope you get the opportunity you are looking for to get mini's so you can enjoy this games as well.

we will not be including any faction starters or miniatures in this Kickstarter
Kickstarter for a miniatures game where you can't get the miniatures if you pledge.
I loled.

It is their KS, they can do what they want. But 99% of B&M will never carry their range, unless they become the next Warmahorde, which they clearly will not (just stating a fact here, not wanting to diss). Online stores is a different thing but those usually do not support tournies etc.
Love the idea, but miniatures are the gateway to new systems for me. Can always kitbash and swap in minis on my own, a new system means dragging friends along.
I was at the Openday Yesterday and had a great time.Picked up all of the miniatures released so far.
Got to listen to the plans that they have for the future of the game and other projects which they are working on too.
Had a game of CS1 in which i was the Skavs against the Shivers.Shivers lost four men and i lost one.The last Shiver decided it was best to run away. The game played well without any of the upgrades that you can use now.I think that the Shivers need to concentrate there fire on one Skav at a time to kill them quickly.Being able to repair armour comes in very handy.
I have went in at the £100 pledge level and there have been quite a few new miniatures unlocked and added to the pledge with more to come i am sure.
Automatically Appended Next Post: The Skav unit is being worked on now too and should be out next month i think they said it would be.

@Wachaza - you must be looking at the wrong bit of the website, you're talking about the Progressive collection bit of which there are 4 releases. If you click on the Miniatures bit it has; Delia, Scav, Barb, Shiver Officer, Halloween Jack, Drekk, Ragman, Shiver Patrol (resin or metal), Carrien Pack (resin or metal) and Carrien upgrade blisters (resin or metal) all available without any other merchandise. You can buy all of those right now in fact and have them sent out straight away.
This is a bit of a risky strategy right now - and if there aren't many more retailers willing to back the Kickstarter there will likely be the option to add on Faction boxes when the KS questionnaire gets sent out. This is more flexible as its not cast in stone as to which will be available by KS fulfillment time.
The other option is that every backer gets a one shot freepost code and can head to the SLA store and purchase any of the factions that they want and receive them straight away.
The miniatures are stunning, detailed and the game itself plays really well - the overwhelming feedback by the playtest groups is that its simple and elegant, eloquent in fact and that the rules are easy to pickup - but the game will need a lot of practice to master. Which is pretty much what you want in a game!
I have to say that the amount of options for making up the Shiver set is amazing. Two different helmet designs and a bare head too.The data slate is very well done for the Sergeant.Spare weapons on the sprues too will come in handy.
Got my four Alpha Carrien made up now with the normal Carrien in line to be done next.Very nice miniatures.
Picked up five of the resin Skav miniatures to have a play around with some converting.
The rules so far will give you lots of options when playing.Do you use your ratings points or not.Mine came in handy to repair armour. Some nice abilities you can use the points for too.
