So I bought a new Tau commander and 3 crisis suits for a really good price! I like the pose, it's coming with extra bitz, yadda yadda. The only problem is the primer! I want to paint my Tau white for the regular armor and red or black for the joints/nonarmored parts.

It says it's primed with zamdri dust from GW. Will this work with that color scheme or will I have to strip it and put my white primer on from Army Painter?

Not a bad undercoating for white..Might even consider a very thin primeover..

However it would only take some LA awsome Yellow not orange (Dollar General, Family dollar, Dollar tree) (soak overnight do not dilute ) and a baby tooth brush to take off the next day. Do not throw out the solution as it can be reused a few times. (cheapo ziplock/r knockoff container with lid)

Rinse and let model air dry overnight before repriming ..oh and check joints as this solution does tend to weaken super glue thou it takes several soaks to completely remove superglue ..It does not affect plastic glue

I say give it a very thin brush over of white. At the end of the day, the joints might wind up looking a bit dark and dirty, but that just gives it style

So water down my white? How much would you say?

I say leave it. You may end up with uneven surfaces and spend more time trying to clean it than you'd spend painting over that as a base colour.

The paint: water ratio depends on the brand, but a good rule of thumb is a thick milk consistency. A couple of coats is always better than one thick gooey one on flat panels.

Yep. As thin as you can get it to cling to the model instead of beading up. As Buttery Commissar said. Think melted icecream
