First things first: Hi all, you are a great source of inspiration.
Never get the courage to submit anything but I am facing a dilema, that maybe will look very obvious to some of you. Any help, comment greatly appreciated.

Well, I am starting a tyranid "army" for a kind of Space Crusade game of my own.
My general idea was to go very dark and unpleasant. So after a lot of thinking I came with the idea of the woodlouse (pretty disguting for most people).

I am quite happy with how my hormagaunt approach the base idea but at the same time it looks very bland... It is quite normal for a woodhouse you may think but maybe with just the right color idea it could be much better.
So, any suggestion ?

Basically it is a very restricted and muted color scheme so far: red (red gore and pink)/purple (greyish)/orange (brownish). Details such eyes, teeth and marks are not painted as it is basically what I am asking for... I am not sure if going for bright orange or go blue...
I add a "failure" which is more pinkish. Althougth it is in very early stages I cannot help but think that it resulted better... Though ?

Many thanks and awesome site!

I like the 'grey' hormagaunt more.

All I would do to the model is finish painting the eyes (probably a muted red) and the claws and carapace. What I would do is mix the brown you already used with some bone, and add some edgehighlights to the claws, and some patterning (spots or stripes) to the carapace.

It will make the model a little more visually interesting and finish it off.

Many thanks Winter for reply (nice name by the way). I already highlighted the claws and carapace with bone mixture. Maybe just not enough.
You would do the patterning with that bone mixture too?
Many thanks !
Good to know you prefer the grey one.
