Hello!

I have been experimenting with color schemes for my Space Wolves for a while. I've never really been satisfied with my attempts at painting them bluegrey. It seems that the greyish tones always swallows the reds and the yellows. Instead I chose to do something unorthodox and paint them black instead. The idea is that this is a Great Company that has left Fenris and fight as raiders at the edge of the Imperium. They slay Xenos for the glory of the Emperor, but do it on their own terms. Their separation from the rest of the chapter is the reason why they have repainted their armour.

C&C is more than welcome!

This is purely a personal preference, so please feel free to ignore, but I feel that the hair/beard should perhaps be a different colour to the armour to give a better contrast.

Other than that, this is a great paint job I especially like the base!

I like the concept!
I agree with D4V1D0 about the hair, although I would not like BC ginger hair with the present colour scheme, and blond hair would be strange for the same reasons, then again, neither would white/grey hair fit well with the young hothead theme of the blood claws (but would probably look great for your Grey hunters and veterans).

I have ofthen thought that Grimnar probably has some black ops secret raiders out there to keep of the radar when he dislike the high lords of terras tactics.

Thanks for the replies!

Actually, I chose black hair color to reinforce the dark and foreboding impression I want the model to give.

It also enhances the contrast of the face.

I don't know if it comes through in the photo, but it's not the same nuance of highlights on the black hair as the armor.

Hello!

I've made some progress with my painting. I have tried out a new technique for painting my Space Wolves. I try to make smooth highlights with glazes.

Thanks alot!

I think it's an improvement over the previous technique where I only highlighted the edges. But learning to blend with glazes is really difficult. Fortunately I feel like I'm learning something everytime i practice.

I love the color scheme you have chosen. I have my space wolves unpainted even and I do not like the blue color of GW, and although I have always liked the black color scheme I was thinking of painting them dark gray as it seems quite complicated to get a good black finish. Any advice / tutorial to get a result like yours ??
