Subject: 38" Super Star Destroyer for Star Wars Armada (Commission)
I was commissioned to build and paint a Super Star Destroyer for Star Wars Armada. This is a resin garage kit from a company called Sith Planet and it was a beast! The mold is pretty old, ten years or so, and it's starting to show its age which means there was significant prep work involved to get it to a half-way decent state. The biggest is was the wafer-thin leading edges; all of the ones on the bottom were damaged. To remedy this, I ended up lining the entire bottom section with .015x.25" strip styrene and then filled any damaged areas with Milliput and smoothed it out. The ship was given a non-screen accurate color scheme because the studio prop is pretty much all one color and actually kind of boring looking. I also built a custom base out of MDF board and painted to resemble a cardboard ship token from the game. This model will be part of the Armada Narrative Campaign at the NOVA Open this weekend. If you're attending, swing by the X-Wing/Armada area and have a look (I will not be there because I have to work). Better pictures of the base along with lots of WIP pictures can be found here.
With the fleet she will accompany into battle:
It was impossible to get a decent picture with my photography setup so I made a quick video tour:

And some, I assume, are good people."

It has rules and a ship card and will feature heavily in the Armada Narrative Campaign at this year's NOVA Open convention. However, according to the fellow I did it for, it was primarily done for display purposes.
