Hey all.

I'm completely new to AoS, and building up a Nurgle daemon army to begin. Simple question: axe or sword for my daemon prince(s)? I've got two modelled with swords (from my 40k army), but which is better on balance?

Do you need more rend? Take the axe. Do you want to have better +hit? take the sword.

Well I'd say there's your answer. Clarity of modeling > tabletop efficiency IMO (and WYSIWYG etc), so swords it is.

As for actual stat lines and not models, I'm not sure which is better any more myself. I've always used the axe, as more rend is generally more better, and my Tizz Daemons have virtually no rend besides their behemoths. However I've also found that my DP never hits with his axe, so the 3+ to hit from the sword may be a smarter choice?

Running the numbers real quick, I think the sword is probably the technically better option:

Wounds vs Save 6/5/4/3/2+
Axe
1.3 / 1.3 / 1.1 / 0.9 / 0.7
Sword
1.8 / 1.5 / 1.2 / 0.9 / 0.6

So the sword's early peak isn't really negated significantly by armor, even when you get to the 2+ band.
