This requires jump enabled troops to deep strike turn 1. I imagine that Blood Angels will get some jump-equipped special units or jump options for Veteran tac squads, but as of today, we have none.

We could take up to 6 assault squads in our troop slot, but they'd get massacred on their own. I could support that with a dread in a dreadnaught support pod (or two) and then pick up a Damocles Command Rhino to ensure other reserves come on turn 2. Reserves would include either deep striking terminators or perhaps 2 storm eagles worth of other troops. Haven't pointed any of this out, but noodling around some build options before I go buying anything I cannot use.

well, if you build up a couple of 15-20 man assault squads w/ apothecaries + shield then they will be durable enough and will still pack a punch when they charge turn 2. Beyond that, I think you have the right idea: dreads in pods, terminators in assault claws, and maybe a siege ram if you REALLY need to get stuff up there.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

They get an automatic 5+ save the turn they land + FNP. Dreadnaught drop pod would get shrouded + first turn bonus. Upping the unit count makes sense to maximize the 3 apothocaries I can get out of the elite slot.

2 x 15-man assault squads w/ apothecary
3 javelins with missile pod and multi melta
Damocles command rhino
Master of signal
Praetor
Close combat contemptor in a drop pod
Storm eagle with 5 termies
Storm eagle with 10-man veteran tactical squad

Comes out to 2620 of Blood Angels. Have to think about what to cut. Might replace the Master of Signal with a Moritat.

I have to agree, until we get our Primarch and decicated assault units, we're stuck with Assault marines or expensive destroyers. I'm guessing Sanguinius will give some sort of controlled descent buff (reduce scatter or no scatter at all for JP units).

I do like your list, I wouldn't go any higher than 15 Assault marines, because at the monent you're running the risk of a mishap and the footprint is massive. The Javelins are amazing now, especially with the points drop, I'd suggest giving them Assault cannons instead of Multi-meltas. The Command Rhino is another good option, the only issue I have with it is that it will probably get destroyed turn 1 if it's not hidden, and you need to push it forward to maximise it's rules. Apothecaries are perfect, keep them cheap. I'd probably drop the MoS for a Chaplain, mainly because the MoS becomes really useful when you can attach him to a shooty unit (Like a heavy support squad), the Chaplain can join one of the Assault squads, give him a BoP and with Zealot he becomes very good.

Storm Eagles are good but not amazing. I'd try and fit in a Leviathan in a Drop pod, bring that down first turn with your Assault marines and the enemy has a lot to deal with.

All good points. I'll go with the contemptor now, since I have the model (BaC). I like the multi meltas for the anti tank, which is what I am missing now. I could swap out one Storm Eagle for an assault ram as the delivery vehicle for terminators, which would give me another viable anti tank option, that is different from the 4 hell strike missiles on the storm eagles.

If I add a melee Leviathan in another dreadnaught drop pod, I bring the list close to 3000 points.

I do two 20 man squads, both buffed (apothecary / primus medicae, chaplain, librarian, or some combo of the three)
5 power weapons each, one with shields, art armor and melta bombs on the serg.
One javelin with missiles and assault cannon.
One regular speeder with an assault cannon and graviton gun.

They work really well. Don't worry about mishaps with the deep strike or the large footprint. This isn't 40k and you're not trying to get within 6" of something so you can melta gun it. You're trying to get into hand to hand. Place them someplace out in the open, within 20" of your opponent, and then run. Screen them with terrain and hopefully some rhinos (scouting recon rhinos with assault cannons are nice).
If they have 6++ and 5+++ or 4+++ along with the 5+ cover, they'll be able to survive all but the worst shooting for one turn. Good luck!
