Here's a test model for my new black legion army (without basing, haven't decided on that yet)

So yeah. I finished a sorcerer (aspiring champion being proxied because I love the model) and figured out a basing combination. C and (maybe) C always appreciated.

Also unloaded the Beastmen in the kit (chaos horde) on my friend, Ester_Bonni, in the hope of helping him with a stigmatus covenant army! Good luck with that!

Good stuff so far. You may want to add some grey highlights to make the marines pop more. A quick drybrush would to the trick rather well.

Just wondering, is it acceptable to scratchbuild a chaos decimator? Also, are the epic decimators like the FW 40k ones, or are they big tanks, as I have previously seen? Does anybody have any images they can show me?

Scratchbuilds are always acceptable. The Decmator is an interesting case the Net Epic one is certainly a giant tank while I don't know for Epic 40k. Personally I use model railway ballast for basing and add tiny pieces of junk to make it more interesting sprue is excellent for this.

As with Decimators, they are tanks in pretty much every epic army list. If you want some proxies try have a look at these:

So... yeah. I finished a retinue. Yay me! Also, if I have time today I will paint up a Nurgle champion to lead Ester_Bonni's chaos cult of Nurgle as it would be nice painting some green for a change.

Any thoughts on basing?

Yay! I got the nurgle champion done. I am particularly proud of the cloak. It was made with paper towel soaked in PVA. Epic has led me to actually find uses for PVA! Oh my fething emperor! The guy himself was painted with caliban green, with the mask Balthasar? gold. To finish off the mask, I put a dot of Mephiston red on and smeared it around with my finger.

The cloak was done with mech. standard grey, with streaks of blood for the blood god for some nurgle-ey goodness. Hopefully I can convince Ester_Bonni to get to work painting the rest of his mutants. (Beast men)

Finished: 8 chaos space marine bases, 1 sorcerer
To do: 3 chaos champions, 2 chaos space marine bases
Also gotta browse eBay for some models. Finding good deals on Epic is hard in AUS :(

What a shame! Will try the Agrax, it's just I didn't have the paint on me

Also at least give us some pics of the nurgle marines! Your sons were my inspiration to start epic!

So yeah, I finished a base and 2 champions. The list is now a retinue with 2 champions and a chosen formation. The champions and sorcerer were painted so that one's secondary colour was red, another green and another blue. There is no Slaneesh because eew but I do have some beast riders that I might proxy as bikes. Any tips on painting slaaneshi pink?

So yeah, Ester_Bonni and finished playing our first epic game. It's just learning to play, so it doesn't get it's own thread but we took a couple deployment pics. Also it was only 400pts. Sneak preview of Ester_Bonni's army also included!

In the end, I lost. Badly. Turns out champions are an awful investment. The nurgle champion (surprise surprise) was the only one that even nearly survived, and he got I think 3 kills. Also, another pointer for me, GET TO WORK on some tanks!
That's it for me now. I'm going to help Ester_Bonni paint up his cult.

Alright, so I've finished my to do list, but I still have quite a few models/bases to complete. Will update soon. Also, I played a 600pt game, which isn't much, but it taught me some valuable lessons. 1. Cover is actually useful, so get some rhinos to get my troops there in time. 2. Because my army is so small, I've gotta employ underhanded tactics, such as using all my units on one opponent unit that's been isolated. Rhinos WILL be the next purchase.

To take out isolated formations I suggest raptors or for a more expensive option some termies. The termies would get in quicker due to teleportation but they're more expensive per unit and are tougher, but the raptors are almost half as expensive, fast and maneuvreable, but only are really useful in CC, which may be an issue due to them having to actually move across the map.

Thanks Cacty, termies ARE on my to do list for eBay findings. What I meant was, when I'm playing games against my only opponent, I am generally outnumbered at least 2 to 1, so what my current strategy is is to not target his force as a whole, but pick a formation and gang up on it, then move on to another with all my troops. This way I can't be swamped unless I fight a really tough formation.
