Hey guys I'm working on a wraithknight and I'm thinking about glossing the helmet lens. However I already put in a highlight with paint so I'm thinking it would be pointless. Most of the ones I see with this done have solid black lenses and are using it to capture light. Any thoughts from other painters?

The gloss does not just capture the light. When I use gloss on parts of the models it also really enriches the colors and gives it a very different quality over mat. I gloss all my "energy" stuff on necrons. This includes res orbs, eyes, the ahnk on their chest, glow from inside their ribs, and any little orbs of colors on their bodys/weapons.

It makes a drastic change.

I would recommend grabbing some spare bit and paint it up like the lens. anything smooth/rounded like you have and apply the gloss varnish to see the effect it will have. decide then.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
