Hey all!

I've recently undertaken my first real conversion project and thought I would ask the great people of dakka dakka for feedback. So here's the plan: I am starting a game of Dark Heresy with some long-time friends and wanted to paint up some bad-to-the-bone Inquisitorial acolytes. The only problem, as I'm sure you're aware, is that Inquisitor models are not nearly as common and varied as Spess Mahrens. My solution was to turn to bitz and greenstuff. A recent(ish) trip to my local game store ended in a new wealth of limbs and weapons to be pressed into service for the Imperium. Now comes the hard part... Putting it all together!!

**UPDATE**
Alright, so I apologize for my stupidity but I got so into my work that I forgot to take any WIP pictures. There isn't really much to see in that department though, It was a pretty straightforward build. Anyway, here is the first of the inquisitors that I am working on. Bit of backstory: he is supposed to be a noble-born officer in the Imperial military who was picked up by an inquisitor for his exceptional skill with a longlas and his strict adherence to imperial doctrine. He has proven his abilities on more than one occasion, prompting his inquisitor to offer the nobleman a permanent spot in his inquisitorial retinue. He is a bit posh and arrogant, and his outfit is meant to exemplify this attitude. Fortunately, he is aware of the problems his ornate clothing would cause on covert missions and will reluctantly forgo his gaudy nobleman's outfit in order to further the Emperor's agenda.

That's a lot of fluff that you may or may not care about, but I thought it might lend some context to the appearance I am going for. Since I got most of my bitz from a box of random parts, I have only a general idea of where most of it comes from originally. I believe the majority of the body parts are from various sets of Fantasy miniatures. The longlas is actually a custom rifle that I made from a musket and some parts from a laspistol. The scope is a leftover from a Space Marines tactical squad, the magazine on the side is from the bottom of the laspistol. I modeled the cape and half-collar out of greenstuff.

I am mostly finished with the modeling phase (I think). I want to add more definition to the shoulder cape and possibly some kind of trim to its bottom. I plan to paint the inquisition symbol on the cape or shoulder and maybe a small Aquila on the chestplate.

The biggest problem now is that I'm still not entirely sure that he looks inquisitor enough. I think he looks a lot like an officer or some kind of lord. Any tips for making this boy more grimdark before I start basing and painting?

P.S. Sorry for the quality of some of these pictures. My camera is not the best for small details, nor is my iPhone.

Added a bit of armor over his left leg, not sure what it's from

Still need to add definition to the cape

Cool project, can't wait to see more. I'm planning an inquisition force right now, so this'll be great inspiration.

As far as adding a bit to your wip, I'd suggest maybe some filthy xenos skulls/limbs on the base. Aside from that, maybe a purity seal or servo skull if you can dig them up.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the apparent death of this thread. Between finals at school, holiday traveling, and job searching, these last few weeks have been very busy for me. I have managed to finish a few things but I think I will wait until there is more progress to report before I upload again. Happy Holidays, see you all in a couple weeks!
