Hi, first day lurker, first time poster.

I have just gotten into doing the models and ordered the Start Collecting Space Marines set. The infantry decal sheet that came with the set is printed.... offset of the shiny parts. I've taken a picture that shows the printed images partially off the... what are those shiny parts called? The vehicle sheet is fine. Anyway, is this normal? Usable? Should I send it back? I'm afraid to try using one, or even starting work on the set in case I have to return it.

It looks misprinted to me, I can sort of see what you're talking about on the omegas in the middle but the off-center skulls and the bit where 'assault' is hitting the decals are both tripping me up too. I'd email GW if I were you, their customer service is usually pretty good about these things (I had a Storm Talon ship once with two of one of the frames instead of one of each, they sent a whole new kit to replace it).

The shiny part is called the carrier film and when different parts of the decal sheet are out of alignment it's called being out of register.

Definitely not normal and should be replaced.

It makes me wonder if and where GW gets their decals printed because the good decal manufacturers these days are usually perfectly in register, I think the more modern printing methods don't allow the decal sheet to shift while printing (which is the cause of being out of register).
