I want to use some LED lighting for some Falcons, but a 9v battery wont fit inside of the vehicle. But I have seen it done in a FirePrism, so my question is, is there something i am missing with making it fit or is there a different kind of battery?

Or should I change the base and try to hide the battery in the base with terrain? And is there any pointers to doing LED lighting?

I would recommend coin cell batteries. They are small and can provide the voltage needed for most led projects on models. I used to make cell holders for CR 2032 3v coin cells out of the small GW bases (seen in the scarabs and dakka jet) but i found this website, in the their hobby lighting section, that you can buy them without making from scratch (the one in the riptide) I also recommend their chip leds. Super small and bright but uses little battery power.

Poweredplay have kits for stuff like this, if you know nothing about the thingamyjiggerypokery of electronics.

I try to disguise the battery in the terrain. The tube in the back is a USB battery.

There are flatter batteries one could use, such as from Adafruit, but I use those to support the Arduino brains so i can represent game state with the LEDs.

Nothing says that you have to use a 9v battery for LEDs. Most LEDs just need 3v. That can be a small watch/coin battery or two AA's. The smaller batteries, the easier they are to hide. I have used them under the base for dread sized models and in the torso of knights among other places. There are a number of places you can hide them. I have even glued them on in plain site but painted them in color scheme with the model and people didn't notice. Same goes for switches.

I would suggest using a watch battery setup and gluing it under the hull of the Falcon. No one will see it unless you turn over the vehicle.

Hope this helps.
