This is an army about 16 years in the making, on and off, since the release of Codex: Armageddon in 2000. Some of the models predate that from a 2nd edition homebrew chapter that were repainted into Salamanders colours. I was transferring them to new storage boxes and thought I'd take some quick photos of the army as it currently stands before I start work on the Prospero box set and do a Forgeworld order of new goodies. Enough words, some pictures:

Is any pre-heresy / heresy army complete without a Contemptor dreadnought?

[Thumb - Space Crusade Vintage Dreadnought.jpg]
Probably the oldest models in the army - two dreadnoughts converted from the classic Space Crusade game

I'm not a fan of Salamanders but it's refreshing to see a fully painted army, particularly one with a very nice composition of forces/models/units. You should be proud of that achievement. Well done!

"A lot" even seems like an understatement. That's a horde! A well painted and truly impressive hoard that you deserve congratulations for.

I love the salamanders.

realism is a lie

buddha, Elbows, thesilverback, amazingturtles - thank you all for your support and kind words. Glad you liked!

The horde has cropped up on me, but one advantage of sticking with an army over a long period of time (and some of it dates back to the late 90s!) is that you can build slowly and add whatever interests you at the time safe in the knowledge it all adds up.

Love it. I'm just about to start building my own Salamanders force and this has given me a lot of inspiration. Amazing job.

Thanks folks, so glad you like. It's not all 30k, but like that some units - the old school Whirlwinds, the Land Raider Achilles, Storm Eagle - can do double duty for Chapter or Legion as appropriate
