I am currently doing a Death Company army. I plan to have the bases be a wet, muddy look (think DKOK/WW1 like), with some puddles in them (clear acrylic). Normally I'd matte coat the whole mini and then gloss varnish the wet ground and blood splatters. However, I thought of just glossing the whole mini to make it appear as if it were in the rain. Thoughts?

You'd have to manage to create little splashes on the armor or somehow have rain drops falling for it to look like rain. Otherwise you'd just have a glossy miniature. I wouldn't try it for an army, it'd be far too much effort IMO.

What I could do is make puddle splashes where the running marines foot is hitting the ground. The wet/glossy look might make them appear wet after a rain shower....
