I've been lacking motivation to paint marines lately. I'll still be working on my Blood Angels and Ultramarines but I wanted to work on something other than power armour as a side project.
I wanted a loyalist house but I also wanted a House that I could ally to my Blood Angels in the future. House Orhlacc having fought with the IXth during the great crusade and their amazing azure and black scheme that will contrast really well with the red Angels.
I'm going to play about with the colours but for the purple I'm going to use Com-Art Opaque Violet or the Ghost tint purple over a metallic basecoat, I'll do a few test pieces first and post them up.
So I went ahead and bought a Knight Warden, Archeron and an Atrapos to start it off and I'm going to pick up a Prophyrion at the Weekender in Feb.
I've attached some pictures of my progress, I'm currently working on the Atrapos, WIP pictures soon, I promise.

I like the color scheme so far! Did you use a clear paint for the purple?

Thanks . I use Com-Art Opaque Violet, it's a clear paint that gives a matt finish. They are brilliant.

Very cool, I am about to use clear paints on my knight soon myself and its always cool to see nicely done clear paints. What did you use to pre shade?

It was my first time using them, but it worked quite well. What Knight House will you be doing?
I used VMA Chainmail followed by a highlight of VMA Chrome.
Here is the Atrapos built.

No problem at all.
Managed to get an airbrush session in on the Atrapos, the bronze is done now it's time to mask everything. He's a big boy!

Another update, Atrapos base colours have been airbrushed, I'm going to build the Archeron today and then detail the Crusader and Atrapos a little later. Hope you like it.
It does need cleaning up a little, there is a bit of overspray but I'll get to that with a brush.
Anyone used one of these in a game yet? they look fun.
