Dominions - Scouts. 4 Melta, 1 bolter. Immolator Tank w/ Multi Melta/Storm Bolter. 170 pts.

Detachment 2: Custodians

10x Custodians - 590

5 Custodians w/Guardian Spears (Block, Str 6, AP2)
4 Custodians w/Bolt Casters (Assault 2, BS 2 Overwatch. AP 3 in combat) w/ Storm Shields
1 Vexila + Storm shield ( Vexila is +1 attack for all imperial models in the Vexila’s unit.)

Pros:

Celestine is really good with the Custodians. She gives them adamantium will, hit and run, and some regenerating bodies to soak up small arms fire. Running across the board will suck, but there’s nothing stopping Celestine from leaving the unit and surging ahead with her jump pack and fleet to tie something up for a turn until the Custodians arrive.

7 infantry scout units, 7 scouting vehicle transports. Speeders can recycle, and are fast enough to get back in the fight. Went with Hvy Flamers to try and hurt units ducking in cover and to mitigate enemy bonuses to cover saves.

The only real good target for high power shooting is the Custodians unit. With Celestine up front, she can tank D shots with her friends.

Everything but Custodians are Obsec. But they can have 31 attacks at Str 7 AP 2 on the charge. They are also resistant to the Avenger Gatling Cannon, which on average, will do 2 wounds per cannon.

Cons: The Custodians are on foot and slow. Weapons are so so. Only 12 melta guns and 3 Multi Meltas. No skyfire. No long range shooting. Can Deepstrike, but wont be charging until turn 3.

I'd like some help. I really want to try and make the Castellans or sisters work, as Celestine is my favorite character in the fluff. The Custodians are something I'm still up in the air about. I feel like hit and run and Celestine giving them regenerating wounds seems like something useful.

Thanks!

That's a really interesting list. I'm not a huge fan of that many points in Custodians, but I can see how it might be rock hard to take down.

I feel like Celestine really synergizes well with fast melee threats like Bike Command Squads or Thunderwolves.

Lost in Warp... again

I have a question... how are your Scouts and Dominions Objective Secured? The Castellans detachment doesn't give it to them. And neither of the HQs does either.

Take a look at Cortez again (from IA book)

Coteaz and his Lord of Fromunda Cheeze rules have been redone. He now confers Obsec to anything from his detachment. (Tho it might be just infantry. I do not recall at this moment.) This, of course, makes him nearly auto include in big, bloated detachments like this.

I've also been considering breaking down the Custodians. They do fine in a game where it's just me and my friends bashing each other, and Celestine makes them really bad ass. The problem is in a format that has shifting objectives. Even in ITC, where you have to hold them for a whole game turn, they aren't too bad because most times a player has to hold the objectives in their deployment zones. It's just there are cheaper and effective but not quite as effective ways to do that.

All non-vehicles get obsec in his detachment.

A few notes:

Celestine and her two helpers have Jet Packs, right? So in theory you could Deep Strike her and the Custodians rather than foot-slog all the way up. I don't think Coteaz can hook up with them if they are doing that but that's not a huge deal.

The Custodians already have Adamantium Will, but the rest of your analysis is right.

You're not a shooting army by a longshot, but unless you want to radically alter your troop selections that's just something you'll have to live with. If you want Celestine in a unit to go smash things, there's just about nothing better than the Custodes so that's points well spent. If you want to up their game further, have Coteaz fish for Hammerhand on Sanctic. Then they're punching at S7/S8.

Thanks Audust. That's about where I am with it.

I think it's a fun bashy list, but its not rounded enough to be all comers. Things like fast eldar, zombie hordes, and 5 Knights will be pretty much insurmountable.
