Before I started on my most recent project, I was working on the following on and off for about 9 months. I went in to my local GW store after a few months after starting my space wolves force, and i was looking for a second dreadnought. What I saw when browsing was the grey knights dreadknight and it just spoke to me.

My goal was to create a dreadknight that looked as if it had been stolen/commandeered/acquisitioned by a space wolves force, repainted and then put to some good use. I'm sure in gaming terms it would be "counts as" a dreadnought, but a fun project nonetheless and has much more presence, standing twice as tall.

I had amassed quite a box of SW bits and some dreadnought spares, and I got to work. Apologies if pics are sideways, I didn't originally take them to use on the forum so they will be as I took them (silly iPhone has to be landscape to make a portrait pic).

I'll start uploading from the beginning, although sadly I didn't photograph much of the assembly.

Largely assembled, some wolf pelt parts from dreadnought/termi kits

Next to a dreadnought for scale, also WIP at this time

Impressive.

How are you going to arm it?

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Moving on, I loved building this mini, the sheer scale and quantity of components even before converting, it were so immersive.

Apologies again for the last set, if I can rotate them I will.

I decided to use the frost axe and shield from the SW dreadnought pack, and as you can see the model is festooned with space wolf goodies in between pelts, most of which sculpted or adapted with green stuff. I went to painstaking length to remove any visible grey knights insignia/icons, using green stuff in solid and liquid form to fill it out. I added space wolves insignia that I cut from the flagpoles in the space wolves pack, some modification was needed to fit the curve of the dreadknights form.

I took extra time to use different colours and shades on the metalwork, with so much detail on the frame of the model I wanted to make best use of it. I used blends of citadel and vmc metallics, paying attention to the workings of the machine, keeping the pistons clean and polished as they would be by movement, and the majority of scrapes/scratches and dirt on the lower reaches of the machines frame. If I don't have a good enough image I'll take one to show it.

I also added runes to the pistons at the rear of the dreadknights feet, and a similar runic plate on the right foot and shoulder, all made of green stuff. Some may think too much, but I wanted this to really feel like a space wolves model.

Thanks.

I've armed him with the gun closest resembling an heavy assault cannon so will run as that, with a custom attachment for the dreadnought shield on the left. Right arm is an extended axe, also from the dreadnought kit, but made longer using the thunder hammer handle and shade from the dreadknight kit. Lots of liquid greenstuff to smooth that.

Another detail, also using parts from the SW dreadnought kit, was the armour on the right arm. Compared to the rest it seemed too plain, so I used the wolf skull attached to the claws from the kit and modified it, constructing the missing parts of the skull such as teeth from greenstuff.

Hidden throughout the model are a bunch of other details, chains and gems from various SW kits, the wolf skull smoke launcher, which I camouflaged underneath the top pelt, and secondary weapons at the foot of the model should the terminator pilot have to disembark his ride. I'll take some close-ups once I call it finished.

Forgot to mention on the previous post, I also swapped the terminator body for a space wolves terminator body, aware they he would barely be seen but every detail counts right

Further pics, more paintwork mostly.

At this point the pilot still doesn't have a head, other than basing this was the last thing I did, I just couldn't find one I was happy with.

This is the axe, converted from the space wolves dreadnought frost axe and the handle of the thunder hammer from the grey knights kit. Quite tempted to fashion something out of that epic sword as well, but that can wait for now.

I used liquid green stuff to smooth out the shaft of the axe handle, removing the embossed grip. I used green stuff to make some wolf pelt, some at the top and a "tail" at the bottom for decoration, adding a little of the usual space wolves character.

When I got to painting, I wanted the axe head to glow from the runes and that lovely textured edge. I'm not 100% on this yet, my painting isn't quite good enough to master the glow and the cast off light on surrounding surfaces. I've done my best but I may have to work on that one...

This is the model in an "almost finished" state, there's just a few things I think need changing but other projects have taken hold, I rarely focus on finishing one at a time.

A part of me wishes I had known about the technical range when doing the damage/wear on this bad boy, but nevermind, I know now, may have to change some of that.

I might change that eye. Not sure what's going on there!

Yeah I'm sad...I named him after my favourite Vikings Character, nameplate is the same on the terminator pilot and the knight.
