That's awesome, there's a 40k FB page?

I hope it becomes a meme and then I can become a theoretical millionaire.

I'm back home now so I will post up some more pics soon.

Here's some more stuff I did back in the 'Great Hobby Spooge' of a few weeks ago...

Had this sitting in a box since last Xmas finally built it..

I wanted the Pred to have an up-armoured front to differentiate it from Rhinos and denote the AV13..thinking about this I decided to make a Rogue Trader-esque 'bunker front' like off the old Rhinos.

I have several old Rhinos and I traced the sections of the front bit onto paper and then used these as a template to cut around. This is the first time I've used plasticard and it shows I think. Also the various interlocking angles are quite hard to get correct.

I also have all my vehicles use this old Forgeworld logo, I've run out of them now but I made this to replicate them indefinitely...

A simple press mould..give it a light coating of oil..

Shove in some more GS...leave overnight..

Pop out and trim the item!

Near finished build...

Base coat and black wash. This is about as far as I have got but I hope to get more done soon. I am about to finish my Libby too. I realise I've not showcased any of my existing vehicles so might try to get some shots off of the OG RT Rhinos and their modern replacements.

Hope you likee

C&C welcome.

I’ve not done any plasticard work (or press molding) myself, but you make it look easy. Well done!

Thanks, press moulding is very easy and I'd recommend it. The plasticarding on my Pred is quiet gappy and not superpro but it will suffice.

I've just finished my Libby so the painting decks are clear to start on the Pred so hopefully that will be a thing.

Good stuff, the bunker front looks good.
Looking forward to pics of the rest of the armour.

Thanks, yes I've some more pics of the other armour coming..

In the mean time here's some more librarian..

So here he is nearly done. I've decided to add a 'lightening bolt' type thing from the little console at his wrist to his force sword. I'm normally against this kind of thing finding it a little gauche but I thought I'd have a go.

Tried a basic version out on some perspex and I think it will be ok.

Just a simple 3 layer thing, I've used a coppery colour on his hand cabling to add to the idea of conducting psychic energy down his blade...these pics are a bit poor on reflection but they get the point across anyway.

Here he is all finished like..

I'm pleased with him. I think he's come out well. The model is surprisingly good as a Librarian (it's from the Masters of the Chapter [original] box), it has a nice book, lots of scrolls and a scroll case. Also all the gubbins on his sword arm work well too.

Said gubbins, the coruscating nimbus is a bit meh but I'm happy enough with the effect. I mostly wanted his sword to look different to all the other power weapons in my army. I considered the 'crystal' type effect but decided it was a bit too 'eldary'...... mostly..

I didn't want to do a big fireball type thingy flying out of his hand (gauche) and imagine him doing a 'Jedi force push type thing' instead.

Green cloak. Green.

I realise now I've forgotten to take a shot of his shoulder pad, I'll try to do that.

Hope you like, I've managed to do a bit more on the Pred and will do some more posting soon.

TTFN.

Love the way he turned out. Instead of a jedi force thing, that might just be his deny the witch pose. I like what you did with the sword. It helps say “force weapon” rather then “power"

I like how he looks like a tough guy, space warrior, wizard rather than some kind of overly ornate french turn of the century teapot wizard.
I know you've got a bit of a thing about marine models with too much bling on them and you tend to strip them back a fair bit but with this guy the understated bling ie no massive force staff or psychic hood/crown works especially well for me.
Ffffffzzzzzaaaaarrrrrtttttt!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. I was using the new inks instead of my failing supplies of early 90's stuff.

Here's the last of the 'Great Hobby Spooge of Dec 14'.

This little sucka..

I wanted to convert it somewhat as I hate the 'weird enormous chin turret with landing gear' thing so that was being left off for defs. I decided to hack into the fuselage and mount the guns there.

After much sawing and hacking with clippers I managed to cut it down to here, I eventually cut out that entire circular area and the little wall behind it..

I trimmed off the side nubbins off the bottom of the chin turret and shoved that into the new gap and mounted the TL ACs there..

I thought he looked a little lonely so ...

Kapowie. The front one is showing a bit of DGS there. I wanted to try remounting the weapon pods as they make it look too front heavy IMHO..

Here's a comparison shot of the hacking, still went further than this..

So I tried remounting the weapons under the 'wings'. I doesn't make sense if you vector the engines but I do prefer them like this..

Trying it out with both....I decided to mount the horizontal tail fins 'backwards' too as I think it make them look more dynamic or something (it's not a mistake!).

Neeeeeeeeooooooooowwwww....pretty much built here..

Side shot. I think it improves the look of the little aircraft..

These guys are slated to be painted next but it's freezing here ATM making priming tricky...I have made little progress on the Pred but hope to be able to get some in tomorrow.

Several of us have decided to do a 'Tale of Four Gamers' type thing, an escalation league with points for painting new stuff. I've decided to do a IG force as there is a SM player already. This means I will reverse the polarity of the blog sooner or later....I will also do some loot pics of my new crap from my Birthday and Xmas..

Hope you likee..

Nice work on the talon. I wimbled a bit before making mine, but just ended up putting it together stock. It’s grown on me. If I had it to do over, I’d probably go with small profile old AsCs, rather then the huge chin guns it’s packing. They are massively front heavy, I like how you balanced yours.

Thanks, I think the stock one looks better with it's engines vectored as it hovering.

From the ravenwing accessory sprue. I used them for the top mount of my raven, and as a razorback mod.

(spoilered as to not clog your blog with my pics)
Spoiler:

They are a little less comically big then the more modern assault cannons.

Just a quick update..

Pred is done!

I think the front looks ok, even though it's far from perfect.

Some sludge in tracks made using 'Stirland Mud'..

See better here really..

Pew Pew Pew.

Looking forward to taking this puppy for a test drive. I've only fielded it once (and as it was proxied so technically never) and it did well.

That's it for now, I've taken a few shots of my existing Rhinos, one for some tacks the other my HQ bus which is suitably pimped out. I might try to do some pics of the RT originals these are replacing. I'm currently working on my Talons but had little time to spend on them recently. Here's a quick WIP of them.

Early stages...

Peek ahead if you want to see the Rhinos they're in my gallery will post them up here soon.

Nice weathering on the pred. It’s been a while since I took mine out, I need to fix that. Tanks are always fun to have rolling around!

Thanks, I've always been an infantry commander but I'm now getting round to adding in some armour, it's been fun driving them about recently. Commanding IG has been giving me a bit more of a taste for it.

Here's a few cars I have lying around from the previous phase of expansion, first up the Captains pimp mobile..

It's got FW resin bits on the front to make it look more awesome. The tiny scroll which the uninspired legend is part of the special Ultramarine logo on the left of the pic, I sliced it off and moved it to fit the larger bit on.

3rd Company is mentioned on the side, also the golden plaque thing is from the FW resin set. The satellite dish is for relaying important tactical orders (and getting the major sporting events).

Slightly glarey pic of the 3rd Co. 'logo'. All freehand I might add. A bit wibbly in places but this is from like 6 years ago. I also added one of those little 'cock bib' things to have some of the Imperial Purple on it to help tie it in with the command squad it transports (seen a few pages back). 'Scourge of the Xenos' is the company motto.

Big gold eagle thing. Back of a tastefully mounted Genestealer skull is seen here too, didn't get a great shot of it.

Other side, another cock bib. The logo on the left is the RT era symbol for a Captain and his name 'Gabriel' which is also on his shoulder pad.

Another thing that isn't really coming off in these pics is the cupola hatch is in white with the 'U' symbol on it. Front view, I made this one intentionally cleaner than the proles' cars. I've done pics for the first of those and will post em up soon.

Not had much time for toys recently, hope to crack on with the Talons when I get the chance.

See you soon.

Nice work on the freehands. They are hard to get to look decent, which is why a lot of people (like myself) avoid them like the plague.

Step one: Drive into battle vs. tyranids, tank shock something big, acquire battle damage from claws.
Step two: Paint kitten at bottom of damage, looking like he clawed the rhino
Step three (optional) attach scroll with funny caption.

I canz have armored ceramite?

LOL, well that's my painting schedule for the next while.

Speaking of which I've finally managed to squeeze in some painting, made some progress on my Talons, done a large chunk of the slow grunt work. No photographic evidence yet. I do have some pics already uploaded of my other Rhino, so here's that..

A more grimy looking more working class Rhino, for the Tacks..

Spare track, the overly critical amongst you might point out these are actually off an IG vehicle..

Spare HB ammo on the back, it reminds me I've not actually showcased the Tack squad this belongs to...

No.4 is the squad number..

Just a basic Rhino, I've another which can be set up as either a Razor or regular Rhino.
