Very nice much better than my first model after a similar hiatus I must say!

I would say that the red makes it seem a little more like a homebrew craftworld than Ulthwe which I tend to associate with all black.

Not a bad thing in the slightest though. Personally, I like homebrew stuff a hell of a lot better. Creating your own stuff is what 40k is all about

Many thanks! Yer I saw the same model and I liked the contrast between the black and red. All my guardian squads are more traditional ulthwe though! Any pointers to practice are gratefully received!

If he's next to a boatload of other standard Ulthwe dudes it'll look absolutely fine just like a variation that'll stand out

As for pointers I'm not quite the right person to be telling anyone about painting, but I like what you've done with the bone effect on the helmet

That's very very good after ten years away! the base seems unfinished, but that's all

realism is a lie

Yer the base is always the last thing I do when I've completed the rest of the army as when it's all done at the same time it is definitely uniform. The helmet was Zandri dust, usbanti bone, bulb oil then usbanti bone with a light drybrush of tyrant skull with a blend of praxi white. Im reasonably happy with it I'm sure I'll get around to touching bits up.
