I am planning on painting my shadow war armageddon similar color to this. My idea is to undercoat brown, use hairspray, then use bone undercoat and scrape off some with a wire brush and hot water. But I dont think this is just straight bone. Is this onced-over with a super thinned down flesh wash, or is it mabye some weathering powder? I dont have experience with weathering powder. Either way I am trying to save time so I can streak all the rivets with rust and not spend 2 days doing the project.
I should clarify, I understand how they do the streaks, but the armor is not bone white, it looks like it had a super light "dingying" ink applied.

An easy way to match that would be: -Prime with Corax White -Wash with a mix of Lahmian Medium and Seraphim Sepia Then apply your detail work/tidy up and bam done.

What some people do is they use oil paint, usually a burnt umber or some similar shade, mix 50/50 with white spirits, then wash the model, and then wipe most of it off (again with white spirits)

Primered White

Sepia wash is the start of this scheme, at least of how I achieve it..
1. Paint white-bonewhite (1/2 ratio);
2. Sepia wash;
3. Streaking effects rust;
4. Sponge scraches and chipped effects (or use hairspray technique before painting the white on, real 3d effects!.. For this start with rust colorings, hairspray and then continue to step 1)
5. more shadows (pure black shading, I use pin-shading & some gradient shading);
6. filth, umber brown streaks in wind directions
And here's my own result:

Must, collect, plastics... need, more, plastics |
