avoiding the lorax on Crion

That's a solid first start. Very solid.

My first was so much more blotchy n such.

Just practice.
Warhammer tv on youtube with Duncan is great to learn.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Bottom most picture looks pretty darn good! The bases could do with something like textured however. A pot of Citadel texture or something similar. But not bad for a newbie!

Your colors are blocked in really well. A bit more shading and highlighting and they'll really pop.

Looks good for a first attempt. I'd recommend GW's how to paint space marines guide to help you learn how to apply a wash and add some line work and take these models to the next level.

The Citadel texture paints will help. Check out this guide for a few examples. https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/Paint/Textured_Paints.pdf

Look up some Basing tutorials on warhammer tv YouTube channel.

Painting is great so far, if you get your basing up to the same standard then you'll struggle to find someone who will be unhappy to play against your army.

Excellent work so far
