This might just be personal preference, but I like to shade my models more heavily, to really bring out the shadows and the lines.

I am still experimenting with styles, the way I explain it fluff wise is each member of my Sternguard maintain their own suit of Mk III, leading to each one to be unique!

Mainly though, I prime white, or no prime
Base with mephiston/khorne red
shade with Carraborough Crimson / nuln oil
drybrush with the red dry compound (by citadel, forget the name)
Shoulder pads are zameshi desert with auric gold on top, same for all yellow bits.
Trim is unique for each.

Base is the mud texture paint from GW and some hobby grass, takes about 2-3hrs per model (that wash drying time tho)
