My mum painted one of her first models today, and I thought it was crazy good for beginner level and wanted to share
She's a big Necron fan and has just started collecting an army for 8th edition.

Looks great! Nihilakh's color scheme is my favorite among the Necron dynasties and you really did it justice!

Okay so:

It's primed in Chaos Black and the aqua areas are then coloured with Sotek Green, then its dry brushed with Skink Blue, then dry brushed with Tyrant Skull. Then you make a wash with Steel Legion Drab (a mix of about 8 water to 1 paint) and wash all over. When that's dry, dry brush with Tyrant Skull again, then glaze it with Lamenter's Yellow (a mix of 3 water to 1 yellow).

Something tells me your mum had some advice. Nonetheless, they look great and she should be proud with the results. Any chance we could get her to start a blog about her thoughts on her dynasty? I would actually find her perspective quite interesting and at least different from everything else. Actually, could you please beg her to?

Yeah she did indeed have some advice, but she did all the painting herself. And I'll let her know she needs to start a blog (I totally agree!), I'm sure she'll be happy to

My friend, if you could make that happen, it might just be the most interesting thing I read each day (I'm an English professor). Non cannon head cannon from an "elderly" (I have no idea how old she might be) woman would give this guy something to look forward to. All I ask is that you give her as little guadance as possible. Originality is what the 40k universe needs, and she might just have it in hearts. I would be an instant sub, that's for sure! PM me if/when she does

She's not that old, only just in her early 50's. She's a modern 20 year old at heart though haha
