I'm looking to make some building/ruins for our 40k tables at the club. Im using mdf paneling for the weight and ridigedness, cutting it will be no problem with a skill saw and rotozip.

What I need help with is how big do they need to be..?
Length width height

We have hills rivers bunkers and forest but no tall or good Los blocking terrain.

Variety is the spice of life. Most importantly while building them, have some miniatures on hand to constantly test fit them. Nothing sucks more than making a building when no models can fit in or on it.

Something I'm noticing with 8th is that building footprints need to be a little larger than they used to if you plan on letting large squads have cover. So I'm building some between 8"x8" and even up to 12" for the base, but we also like dense terrain here. Then as far as levels and platforms go I tend to go between 2-4" to definitely accomodate small models and often work with larger bases.

Heres an update after many moons of my buildings. I decided to go with 9×9" building eith 4 inches per level. Making them out of panel board which ilhas some good weight to it so it wont move if the table is bumped. Base coated it with grey and added so texture spray paint for for now. Using card board to mock up the inside layers.
