All right, so a year ago I bought my first fire warriors, so today I'm celebrating by posting my latest, newest fire warriors and a fireblade conversion as well. Hope you like, all constructive opinions are welcome.

The fireblade was made with a fire warrior torso, legs and pulse blaster, a spare shadowsun head, and an Empire banner from warhammer fantasy, using transfers with the Fire Caste and Sa'Cea sept symbols.

The Fire Warriors were primed black, layered The Fang-Russ Grey-Fenrisian Grey, given a 50/50 wash of Nuln Oil and water, as well as pure Nuln Oil to fill out the crevices and lines, and finally a fine highlight of white on certain areas. The sand on the bases was painted with a watery mix of Karak Stone, and then drybrushed with Ushabti Bone.

Finally at the very bottom there is a comparison between the first ever fire warrior I painted, and the ones I got done now. I like to think there's a difference.

I like what you've got going there with the grey, white and red. The flag is cool, though perhaps a bit out of place for tau on the battlefield. Still, with the space pope in play, who is to argue!

I loved the idea of a flag. Fireblades are supposed to be these bombastic, ultra-patriotic leaders (sort of like a chaplain, or a commissar that doesn't BLAM people), so I got the idea in my head of one of them carrying the flag of T'au and their sept into battle, leading the charge. I actually modelled the rest of the squad to be running forward, just to follow this theme.

Flags don't really make too much sense like this, especially since the Tau are probably the least likely faction to lead a masssive infantry charge... but 40k has always been about what's the most awesome, not what makes the most sense.

Glad you like!
