Hey, looking for feedback on my models, I've had complements on the level of painting that I do but still feel that I'm no where near where I'd like to be and that it may just be them being nice. So I've come to you guys, be as mean as you like, so long as you're honest.
I'd say you were pretty good - a solid 6-7 (if 10 is Golden Demon winning jaw-dropping goodness).
I'm consciously trying to improve myself and it's not easy.
I would say to start with you need to take much better photos to get the best possible critique. Get a little photo booth from ebay and experiment with light and backgrounds. You're taking photos in an area filled with reflective surfaces which makes the light bounce around like crazy. It makes any subtlety of depth hard, if not impossible, to make out, especially on reds.
Spend some time online and search for inspiration, watch all the painting videos on youtube you can find, there are books and dvd's you can get such as from Coolminiornot or the Angel Giraldez guides.
The only real way to improve, I've found, is to push yourself on a particular area you'd like to get better at and repeat at every opportunity. Also consider branching out into new paint lines - Scale 75 are great for me but aren't for everyone. Check out paint reviews as well. There's never been a better time to improve as a painter with all the online resources available
pics are bad so cant really tell. The questions subjective. To me not very good. Appears to be just gw washes and base coats. You just need to copy the top guys untill you eventually become your own painter

As others have said, the picture quality is too low to be able to tell, but they appear to be solid tabletop quality. I would expect to see them score between a 5 and a 6 on coolminiornot.

I would take some of the comments here with a pinch of salt.
Being compared to the best miniature painters on the internet is rarely going to end well for anyone. (except perhaps the best miniature painters on the internet)
I think your painting is good. I also think people would pay for you to paint models for them (if they wanted to).
The bad photography has been covered, but I think that with some decent images, 80% of people would say that these models are well painted. Not Golden Demon standard, but well painted nonetheless.
Looks good to me, man. If you want to get better, paint-paint-paint. Read up on techniques, study the work of your favorite painters, if they have any blog or are active on a forum, read up on their process.
Hi, just finished painting more and tried somthing different with taking the picture. Have these come out better? Still using my phone camera as I haven't the money to get a mega good camera
I think they look great - that giant rat monster thing in your first post is absolutely disgusting, so well done on that.
Try using a white background for the photos - just a sheet of white paper that curves up behind the model. V cheap solution.
Keep in mind a lot of the best painters on here sold their souls to the Chaos gods to paint as well as they do (it's the only possible answer), so it'll cost them in the long run
