This is amazing. I saw your post with the gate but this just exceeds anything I had imagined, well done.
I am curious though, how did you attach it to the base? As it looks to be truly flying.

Greetings S.e.r.a.p.h.i.m, I like the color palette You chose for Your Wave Serpent.
The free-hand thorny vines look great! It is interesting that You went with no-frills in not adding the six prongs that usually are added on the front of the hull.
I have not seen a Wave Serpent with out them before.
I was wondering if You air-brushed the whole model & then did details, shading & water slide transfers. The free-hand all over the Grav-Tank looks amazing!
I am a Biel-Tan Craftworld Eldar fan, I do appreciate seeing Your work on this model. :-)

The Wave Serpent looks good (minus the engine/exhaust flames...that's exceptionally un-Eldar-like).
The portal doesn't work for me at all, but that's all personal preference.

Thanks darkstar!
You can see the "how I did this" post at https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/737424.page Most of the base colouring is airbrushed with masking, then decals, thorns and gemming etc. The thorns were created by "painting" the pattern with liquid greenstuff (watered down with Lehman). The six prongs just did not work with what I was trying to create with the thorns so they got left off. I don't think that affected the model any.

Thanks! The gate has been made for the upcoming armies-on-display and may not stay as a permanent base; using the 'warp flames' I was able to create a sort of holding prong collection that the model just sat in. Wasn't really going for realism just for impression The base will sit on a shattered dominion battle board with the same colouring for the armies-on-display.

Thanks!
My very first 40k model was a Wave Serpent over 20 years ago. It is great to look back at my first painting efforts and see what I can do today. I am no golden demon entrant but I am very happy with what I can produce and this year just on its own I have learnt a few new techniques. I like to try new stuff too and experiment; hence the engine flames (made with cotton wool would you believe?). Liquid masking and painting with liquid greenstuff were also new concepts for this model.
