Subject: How to Paint Immortal Gauss Blasters?

Hey all,
New to painting. Necrons were an easy army to pick up and paint, though to get to the next level there are definitely some quirks. One of them is fine detail painting of Immortal guns, specifically the recessed areas of the gauss blaster. Anyone have a recommended way to get in those recesses?
Cheers!

I'm not sure if there's an 'easy' way of doing those parts. Funny enough, after their 'awakening' years ago the Necrons went from being one of the easiest armies to paint to actually being very tricky in some regards. Especially with these recesses in the weapons!
For me, I just thin my paint down and paint into all the recesses carefully. You'll need to go back over and touch up any overspill but it works for me! I'd also recommend not using a fine detail brush. I use a Windsor & Newton brush that's relatively large but retains a fine point. This let's me keep more paint in the brush but also provides the detailed point for doing fiddly work. I find it far more useful for details than an actual 'fine detail' brush.
Good luck!

Will have to try it. No way around the touch up method I guess. Thanks!

You could alternatively paint the recess colours first and then paint the furniture of the weapon afterwards, but as Necron weaponry is often black that process would be the wrong way round for me - given I leave the black primer as the main weapon colour. I still think you'd probably have to do touch-ups though.
What scheme are you doing out of interest?
