With a little better picture we could offer more suggestions.

Looks okay. I'm no master painter (at all, not even a little bit) but the main area to start for any painter...cleaner, crisper lines. Work on the brush control, and work on acquiring a better brush you if you need it. I see some paints which didn't cover particularly well also (the bleached bone on the scrolls is thin/transparent). Just in general it could use more tidying up. Start there before looking for fancy techniques etc. The brass plating around the leg armour etc. looks like it has black splattered on several locations, etc.

Yeah, just some better control, make sure you use thin coats and put a couple on to make sure you cover the primer, especially if you are using a black primer and lighter colors going over that.

Take a hobby knife to the mold lines, I know its not fun, but helps to keep them from sticking out once you paint it.

Something I do with assault cannons, is to drill out the barrels. It has multiple barrels since it spins. Not required just something that I do.

Otherwise not a bad looking model, just need practice and more practice, that is the best tip I can give you. Don't be afraid to mess up, its the only way to learn.

You may want to reconsider your basinh choices. Having the base be similar in colour to the model makes the model blend or rather blob into it. Since your model ist primarily dark and uses cold colours, I'd go for a warm, light colour on the base. A simple example would be sand-colour, or light brown. If you are feeling whimsy, add a bushel or two of Mordheim Grass to the base.
