Recently painted these Ultramarines for a small tabletop std army commission, first time painting Primaris and I found it to be pretty refreshing to paint a different mark of armour! These were all completed in just under 2 and a 1/2 weeks because they were needed for a tournament... So much blue... Guilliman was done in a day as time caught up with me (still not a fan of his un-helmeted head xD).

Anyway, lots of fun and I don't normally paint Ultras!

Looks really good man. Especially for just over two weeks.

These are some top-notch smurfs, by Guilliman's foot! Yes, a very fast turn-around on these guys, lovely blue - what a treat!

Excellent amount of finish. As with most armies like this, I would rather see your take on Ultramarines vs. a simple codex paint scheme. Also, I'm normally not a barrel-drilling guy, but these larger models really do benefit from having the barrels drilled on things like bolters.

I don't notice or care on an Imperial Guardsman, but the increasingly large marines are very noticeable.

Your paint work is very crisp and I applaud the consistent basing (without black rims! hurrah!).

Yeah, these were a commission so it was strictly to box art/codex schemes I personally have no interest in painting an army of Ultramarines for myself so I'm not sure what 'my' take would be And the barrels - I should have mentioned this in the OP - the client actually specifically requested for the barrels not to be drilled (I personally do on my models).

No airbrush, blue was laid down with a Macragge Blue rattle can though. I don't have a website :(

The OP mentioned that they were a commission job, so I assume that was what the customer wanted.


Either way, those are some damn fine Ultramarines; nice to see some done so cleanly, and in such a small time frame!

Can you enlighten us as to what colors you used on the smurfs? the highlights are spot on.

The white is really good. Would love a full shot of the army
