I'm painting a display model for a friend atm but am struggling to find a good spot colour. As you can see from the pics below, the scheme is triadic so far with desaturated blue armour and bleached yellow along with cold white armour. This is the Blood Angels primaris lieutenant so the power sword (which I'm painting separately is a focal point. I intend to do a crystal blade effect but am not really sure which colours to use. I was thinking bright red but am worried that might clash with the blue. What do you guys think? Names of citadel paints would be extra helpful, I'm using macragge blue as a basecoat and ulthuan grey for the white.

Apologies in advance for the bad pics they were just for an idea of the colour scheme

I think purple (amethyst) would look good. It plays well with blue and white, but also adds contrast with the aquila, as well as the sword hilt should you choose to use gold there.

Ya know something that almost never gets done is a yellow sword.

it would play off of the yellow aquilla.

Thanks everyone I think I may go from a purple to pink to white it's supposed to be high contrast after all! I'll put up a (good) photo once it's done.

A yellow power sword would look fantastic, however if you really want to show it off, check out our metallic range.

We've got colours there that are not exactly normal metallic colours such as red and blue, we've got a purple one to add as well and we're currently looking at colour-shifting metallic too.

However, if you don't want to go down the metallic route, Yellow to white would work well to offset the main colour scheme. In fact any colour going off to white would give a great effect.

Shame though if you're looking at a crystal effect is to find a clear transparent sword you could replace the standard plastic one with and then use washes or transparent paint to turn it into a crystal.
