I did an initial test model painted in the stone statuesque style, this guy:

https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/994233-Necron%20Stoneguard.html

The style that was made awesome with Stonecast Eternals a while ago, trying to make some alterations to make them stand out a little, and play in to some common necron style themes. (well just the glowing eyes and the glowing ribs really)

... And I thought it turned out quite well. So I started working on giving him his friends. The first out of a total of 4 more for now, is the guy below, in the making. Trying out some more cracks, though might have overdone it on his... between-the-legs thingy (can always cover some of that with moss later).

Also toning it down ever so slightly, less brown more grey, and finer lines with the highlight. (perhaps too fine? Not easily seen from a normal distance?)

Any comments are welcome. I thought I'd share since already at this intermediate step I thought he looks quite awesome! Not long ago I'd be perfectly happy to leave it at this and some gravel on the base.

Next up will be the glow effects and the shiny weapon (plan to make those the same). And then a nice base (probably redoing a variation in the celtic theme, with a roller pin), with elements of orange autumn, and then patches of moss.

The third model is also on the way. It is currently in the going-to-town-with-the-knife-and-rotary-tool stage. Figured I'd try to do fewer in number but more extravagant pieces of damage on that one. Exploring that direction too. Perhaps breaking a leg or an arm, a bit like a classical greeco/roman statue. But considering they're wielding two-arm weapons, perhaps best take the leg, pictures later.

That looks really cool. I don't think it's overdone on the crack front. It could do with some glowy eyes or something to scream "eldritch powers" butbotherwise looks awesome.

In fact just like the guy in your link

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yeah it's perhaps not so bad. Always nice to sleep on things like this, see it from a distance, and get some different opinions in, thanks.

Perhaps working the base into the model in a way that reinforces the idea of "stone"

Id experiment with cutting small chunks of the pink-foam in a flagstone style, to form on and around the base, and have some "stone chunk" pieces attach to the legs.

At first I wan't overly sold on the idea, thought the models should be free and walking around, but a small pidestal for him to stand on, could be nice, perhaps also breaking it in two and taking one of his legs with it... Definitely adding to the old broken stone statue feel.

Never seen or heard anyone do a "Stone Statue" take on Necrons. This will look badass no matter what direction you take I think.

Hope so.

This is the second guy. You should check out the first, it won't be too different from that.

In the OP I rant some on what variations I'll be doing this time.

Oh yeah I have seen that one! That is why I saw it will look awesome!
