Subject: Help needed - How to get a toxic liquid effect on my base?
So I have this wraith lord, he will be black with some colour-shifting into beetle blue and yellow armour panels/shoulder pads and head.
His base will be Gray/ash with some bone white and black chequered tiles mosaic, to represent trudging through some destroyed imperium industrial building.
I put in a pipe in the rubble and am looking to make it seem like there's some toxic liquid flowing out of it.
See pics.
Any advise how I can do it?
Im thinking of using something thick/liquid which would set and which I can paint over after.
Open to other ideas and suggestions. I'm all about quick n dirty painting solutions. The easier it is to do the more likely id do it

Simple green pool paint3d over with gloss varnish?
Replace green with brightly colour3d goo of your choice.

Mixing bicarbonate of soda with either superglue or varnish to get a horrible bubbly mess. Add in a bit of a wash to.colour the resulting horrible.mess. may e try that one out on a spare base before using it in anger

Step one: Apply liberal amounts of PVA (white glue) to the base.
Step two: Apply thin super glue (not gel) to the PVA.
The PVA reacts to the superglue and as it hardens it creates a very gooey looking surface. The PVA will dry smooth like normal in the spots where there is no superglue, so you can create contrast by controlling where the superglue goes. When the superglue hits the PVA it will create a small bubble which will dry and create a small concave pool. You can also glue BB gun pellets onto the base beforehand to create pus bubbles, which will give a nice effect alongside the PVA/superglue mix.
I used this approach when creating a Nurgle themed army and it worked out really well.

Protip: Cut one side of the BB off with a hobby knife or use a file. This will make the BB sit flat on the base and make it look better. You can also adjust the height of your sludge bubbles this way too.

It's hands down the best way to get what you're looking for. Play around with it to see what I mean, you'll soon get the hang of it.

What I do is apply a dark green base. Then work that upto a bright yellow green, on the 'shore' of the puddle. Apply water effect over the top. Then sit back and admire. The effect it gives is reminiscent of the doom toxic pools.

Excuse the terrible quality photos and paint jobs, these are a few years old. You cant really see in the photo but the green has a water effect over it to make it shiny. I'd advise against using pva glue. It goes yellow after a while and doesnt give good quality results.

Toxic = citadel moot green mixed with PVA glue. Additionally you can start with warpstone glow and highlight with moot green. Some pictures how both can look below. At the end use gloss varish on it
To get some toxic slime effect mix moot green with UHC glue.

You can get glow in the dark or neon tee shirt paints. They come out thick (a bit thicker then elmers glue) and dry solid.
I believe the person I saw do it before used the green for most of it and then a little bit of yellow in the middle as a highlight. The bonus being it actually reflected/glowed onto the model to create OSL without needing to actually paint OSL.
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

What ratios would you suggest mixing?
I like the bright green glow effect you achieved.
Did you highlight the slime bits with Moot green or Warp stone Glow or is it like that once its set?

When I'm mixing paint with glue I do it till color of liquid suites me - so for this it's as little paint as possible till you get the proper solid color.
The bright green slime on those two models is just moot green + UHC glue, no additional highlights.
On the blight drone base I primed base black, then applied 2 thick coats of pva glue with warpstone glow (it'll get a bit transparent) and added some bubbles from foam balls cut in half when glue was still drying. Then I highlighted with warpstone glow on it and next with moot green. At the end added yriel yellow spots with thinned paint.

Do you mean UHU glue?
is that the same as PVA gue?
A google search for UHC Glue did not turn up anything concrete.
Thanks.
It's standard Polymer Glue (its called Universal glue sometimes) - it can be bought in every home depot shop and supermarkets. UHU glue is one of it. I buy it in 250ml bottles very cheap. Its totally different than PVA glue - its usualy transparent, is thick and if you try to spread it then it creates thin threads. Thats why its awsome for all slime, spider webs etc.
