Hello Everyone!

Last week I was asking for advice on starting a big sculpt, and here's my first attempt at a large-scale sculpt, building a Squiggoth for my Orks to stomp around in. Hopefully the pictures will work!

Framework is made from plastic lollipop sticks, bought online forever ago for about a quid per hundred. Heated & bent using a lighter, and then a tealight when I realized it was easier and less likely to result in burnt fingers!

Sculpted over the framework with Milliput, which was more crumbly than I had anticipated, and seems to dissolve in water, which I also hadn't expected. I plan to go over this once it's dry with greenstuff, which I have used a bit before, so this is really just the basic shape. The leg I tried to do in one go, but there will be other details like armour, chains etc going on and I can re-detail it with greenstuff if I think it detracts from the model. I'm not expecting Forgeworld-class sculpting on my first go, I'll be happy if it's discernable as a squiggoth!

The milliput should be hard later (I don't trust that it will be "rock hard in 3-4 hours", I'm leaving it at least 6!) so I will put the bits back together and see if I'm still happy with the proportions now the lower jaw has some meat on it!

I'm keeping it sectional whilst I sculpt to allow me to manipulate it easier, I'll be attaching it all together permanently once I'm quite happy that it's going to look alright when I do, then fill in all the gaps!

Any critique and comments always welcome!

I did something similar about 12 years ago. However, I cheated. I found a 1970's era StarWars Dubak lizard toy at a garage sale ($1) and sculpted over that instead.

Good job starting with a skeleton with the right proportions!

Thanks guys!
Bit more progress on the sculpt, got the basis for the body and the second front leg sorted last night, put it all together this morning and I think it looks good! Compared to the squiggly in IA8 it's a bit skinnier, but it'll bulk out as I layer the details on. I hope.

Also got a pic with Barry for scale, he's about the size of a carbides right now.

Should be able to start thinking howdah now that I know what sort of size he is, see if I can cover some of this up before I go pitting effort into sculpting bits which will be hidden!

C&C always appreciated!
