Here is my progress so far on this model. Only issue right now is one of the tusks won't fit in the area it is supposed to go. Still feeling optimistic.

I had a similar issue. Was the tusk catching on the raised leg? I ended up 'clipping' one of his toe nails to get it to fit.

Kind of, it is that but also that it doesn't fit in the hole where the tusk is supposed to go.

I'm about ready to just leave the other tusk off as it will not fit or stay no matter how much I clip off or glue I lay on.

Have you tried using green stuff or two part epoxy resin glue? It would be a shame to leave him without a tusk

Okay I should clarify, there is one position which I have been able to keep the tusk on, the problem is the tusk is at an angle so that it extends past where the base would be so the models weight gets applied to it when it is set on a level field.

Have you got a photo of the join?

I've got two mammoths and I put them together about 6 years ago and I may of filed a bit of the tusk away so it would attach better to the mammoths face.

Two other options to leaving it off completely could be to put it in boiling water and bend it in a way to avoid the foot or to break the tuskin half, look at pictures of elephants with broken tusks for inspiration.

Good luck with the project. I'm still yet to finish my own haha.
