As the title suggests- does this base work for this mini? I’m not sure if there’s enough contrast here between the figure and the base.
I was going to do the whole army like this, but I’m not sure if it will work:

I'd change the colours underneath to a greeny yellow instead.

It's a well done effect, but IMO it's doesn't work - there's not enough contrast between the model and the base like you said.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I think you’re right- I might use this for my eldar (Iyanden) though...

Back to the drawing board for these guys- any suggestions?

Queen Annes revenge has a solid idea, go with a red and yelow under coat for a nice lava effect maybe?

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Near Jupiter.

Green like anne says is the best color i can think of in my head that would stand out the most with what you are showing. Very nice as it is, but definitely the base blends in alot with the model too much if you were wanting it to stand out more as it stands at the moment, but other wise it still looks amazing how it is right now.

The base makes the mini look like the mini is connected to whatever energy-source emanates from the terrain. Is this character fighting on their homeland terrain?

I’ll try that QAR! Thanks.

My Emperors Children are on old school pva/sand/goblin green, so I may just go with that. If I go for this pink& blue base on my Eldar the same effect green/yellow on Slaanesh models might look a bit too samey.

(Goblin green became Scorpion Green, now Moot Green)

It is a beautiful effect - It might work better if the colours were strongest at the models feet and fade further away - the model would be leaching into/from the base then.

The other option is indeed contrasting colours. they neednt be mutually exclusive - contrast colour bleeding to demon colour near the feet could work...

Reversing the flesh colour could also work. So you have the higher contrast white at the feet, and a darker purple to the centre.

At a glance? No. Just blends right into the miniature.

Yellow for sure. Orangey yellow. The direct compliment of purple is yellow. So go more golden hues.

Personally, it would work, IF you' made the blue pink aswell.
so that you have a contrast with the blue legs.
That said, Glowing green or another neon like colour as pointed out allready should work aswell.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Do I did a quick experiment. Playing on Lance’s comment on Golden hues I went for... GOLD!

I was going to do the crackle paint thing, but while I was doing the base coat, swirling Balthazar Gold and Retributor armour together look like a warp storm from the opulent golden palaces of Slaanesh. I think I’m going to go for the super simple swirling gold.

I'll be a contrarian, and go against the contrasting color recommendation. I think the color of the original base looks cool as hell.

But it does blend in with the daemonette's feet. If you'll notice, her claws are much lighter (and a different color). Maybe if you did her toe claws in a similar manner, it would break up the model from the base?

I like the top picture better, with the golden swirls under the black cracked earth. You get much better pop on that one with the model standing out as a much more distinct entity.

Yes, your purple pink swirls were very good looking on the original pictures. I think it's a great effect to save for another model another day. In the meantime these purple models pop better against that yellow/gold base.
