Hey all, thinking of using Ad Mech Kataphron tank treads for the base of my homemade Thunderfire cannon.
Question, what are the dimensions (L/W/H) of the thunder fire base not counting the gun mount?
What are the dimensions of the Kataphron treads? Are they close?
(And for completeness how close in size is the forgeworld quad mortar treads?)
Thanks in advance! Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok with my internet search-fu I found someone saying the thunder fire is 50mm wide by 75mm long, hopefully that is true. (Not sure if that is tread length alone or the hitch thing that is behind the treads)
The Kataphron model comes with a 60mm base so those tracks are clearly somewhat shorter. How much shorter I do not know.

Update #2 - I found pics of a TFC next to a ruler.
I can confirm the TFC tracks are almost 50mm wide, and about 52mm long. Tracks plus anchors in the back are about 75mm long.
Still can't find Kataphron track size anywhere, anyone know the dimensions of these?

32mm wide and 45mm long. I bought a pack for Titanicus conversions so I'm actually widening their track.

Looks like a good place to use a razorback top hatch bit.

Wow, Fajita Fan, thank you. Kataphron track length is pretty close to TFC tracks but the Kataphron ones are much narrower than I had assumed. Now I am wondering how to widen, keep the hull but put something else under it that is wider (like a Razorback top hatch that Desubot said) or just not use the hull at all and have something wider between the tracks... hmm...

IIRC the TFC fits in the same turret ring as the razorback, so that’s a good place to start.

Cool, thanks.
The top door hatch dimensions for the rhino and razorback are 35mm wide by 50mm long. Provided the Kataphron treads are each 5-9mm wide, that would get a width at or close to the width of the thunderfire model.
