I'm trying to convert up a javelin inspired by Reaperman2020's land speeder tempest conversion, and I've gotten pretty far but have realized I'm probably gonna need to use plasticard to finish enclosing the cockpit. I have only minimal experience iwht plasticard and don't wanna screw this up, any tips for how to do this kinda thing?

Trace the opening of the cockpit on a piece of paper to serve as a template for the plasticard.

For a snug fit, you want to keep in mind the tolerance of the knife cut itself - a standard exacto has tolerance of +/- .5 mm for 1mm plasticard sheets in my experience. Always work with + tolerance (as opposed to - tolerance), and sand it down. Any gaps can be filled with yellow-heavy green stuff or white-heavy grey stuff with extra curing time.

I would only fill it in very roughly with plasticard; mainly filling the large centre surface area. Glue it along one edge sercurly, then patch the gaps left with milliput, be as rough as you like, then sand it flat.

I disagree. When you don't have a proper backing surface you need the part to fit snugly and glued on all edges or it will fall through the hole during patching phase.

Also, alway use minimum amount necessary when fillig in gaps. It's easy to sand off rough edges than large chucks of filler.
