40k! We used to salvage packing styrofoam, especially at work, for terrain but never painted it like you have. When we'd unwrap our receipt printers everyone would look at me weird as I take home the styrofoam and packing inserts...
Haven't had much luck with styrofoam - although small amounts (as in, tiny amounts) makes good snow for bases!
Have done lots with cardboard though! Check out my gallery.

Thanks - honestly never thought of that! Don't use that many disposable bottles, but have a few caps and bits of plastic lying around - so will give that a go and see how it turns out!
Have got a fair few cardboard tubes lying around, too, but haven't decided what to build out of them yet... Currently working on a stepped pyramid for my Tomb Kings and
