Trying to go for a somewhat grimdark style. Keep in mind I’m trying to speed paint these dudes, but would like to hear opinions, or advice.

I do the smoke/tendrils coming up from the base the same as the robes tapering off into the aether. Not sure what you plan to do with them, or basing in general.

Thanks. Yeah I’ll be doing the same glow on those bits as his cloth. And the bases I’m thinking doing dirt with some wintery tufts to give a bit of a dead vibe.

I like him. i'm concerned with the weapon hand having the blue when it seems a more natural gradient for the hand held downwards, though.

Honestly they look grim and pretty dark. And read well for a speedpaint
Only advice is not to leave the bases empty.

Thanks very much. I agree about the hand, I have fixed that more with the rest. Here’s how they turned out as a squad. I ended up doing the bases different to how I expected, the mud being brown made the whole models brown blobs from above, due to the brown-grey highlights on the top of the cloth. So I went with an ambient spirit glow instead, which I think was for the better.

Good call on the glow effect for the base, it looks subtle but provides perfect contracts to the the figures.
Damn solid!
