So, inspired by the thread on Stargrave crews, post your Creatures here!

I am going through the bestiary and thinking about what we may need need. Of course, many of us play DnD, 40k etc. and I was thinking that termagaunts might be useful as the "insect-y humanoid foody thing" and the old purple worm makes sense as the 20-foot worms.

Anyways, enough rambling - what are you using/intending to use? Post your pics to help us all out!!

Thanks for sharing in advance

Hmm, I hadn’t thought of looking through current minis I have for this.
I’ve got some random Genestealer which might work.

Then Mantic..
I have a load of Dreadball figures that may fit the bill (I don’t think they all have obvious DB gloves or bits on them)
The Z’zor, just the insectoid race of various shapes etc.
Then there was the set of random ones, the Free Agents.
A few monsters and robots etc..

Nearly all of them may work well in fact..

Also look at some of the Warlord Games Beyond the Gates of Antares stuff. I think I might try building a crew from my C3 and Algoryns, but some of the aliens from that range could be good for something.

I’ve actually somehow got the set twice.
And never even painted any up once, so now may get the use, one lot anyway.

I’d sell the others on, but with postage and fees, then needing to lower the price in line with discounters, I don’t think it’s gonna come to anything worth doing.

So in my first pass on the creatures I picked up the following:

Reaper Mini's
Giant Frogs ---> Dedfurd
Rhino Beetle ---> Magmite (couldn't find a suitible "crustacean"
Cloak Beast ---> Ryakan
Shadow Hound ---> Warp Hound
Carrion Worm ---> Sewer Dragon (couldn't find a suitable big lizard)
WizKids Deep Cuts
Giant Octopus ---> Tangler

I'm going to splurge and get a .stl file from Hero Forge to be a Porigota. I have some scenario ideas and am going to need a few of them so it makes sense for me.

Something like this (except...with like...bug eyes...not creepy human eyes...maybe...cuz those are creepy):

That is a nice beastie. I think I’ll use my Ambull for that. Means I need to paint the thing though... maybe there will be an upcoming painting challenge that will help

If you can wait for your hero forge stuff.
Black Friday they’ll likely half price the STLs again.

Warbots don't have a listed weapon, but since they get to attack up to 3 times, I'm basically calling it a minigun. Sentry Bots also lack a listed weapon but with no bonuses, it's basically a carbine.

Yeah I'm super impulsive so definitely can't wait. I picked up a bunch this past BF and have only supported/printed about half of them.

Did someone mention Warbots?

I’ve done a bit more searching. I think a displacer beast will do well As a warp hound. This one is suitably alien looking

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3753484

I found this rather funky space crab for a magmite
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:789698

For Gaunch I’m thinking the ur-ghuls from Blackstone Fortress

I can use the bad guys from BSF as pirates as well, and the chaos marines as the combat armour pirates

There are loads of wolf models on Thingiverse for Ferrox, and also this
Guy
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4058715

Xenomoths will work nicely for Ryakan I think

Maybe a Bulette as the Willy rhino thingy
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4315178

Sentrabots, warbits and drones can come from the Gridwars pack I have, and I really want an imperial probe droid as a repair bot

Love Magmites - Bile worm a touch too phallic for my tastes! I prefer my giant worms with teeth and Dune-esque wormy styles (so the Reaper Purple Worm is great)

Thanks all for the suggestions - these are all really good ideas

Uploaded a quick and dirty Horat model
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4861135

Essentially just chopped off a Rhino head and added it to Wooly Mammoth.
Probably going to save me hours printing it instead of trying to find a suitable Rhinocerous model and sculpting hair on it.

I printed some of the Shengrylla Models

and some Bile Worms

Reaper Bones Minature for scale

That is a lot of damn dirty space apes! Now you just need to print a big oblong... actually, given that the thing should be totally featureless, maybe just a Sheet of something would Do

Just gotta be 1x4x9

Tiny, cute robot bunnies! I seriously have no idea what i'm going to use these things for, but they were free and look at the cuteness! Probably base them as a pair to act as a drone.

Sewer Dragon:

Dedfurd

Horat (Not so much a wooly rhino, but I'm goung to say this is the desert version)

A couple of wolves to use as bad guy guard dogs in single player mode:

A pair of Ferroxes (possibly different sub-species )

I love my printer...

I must find and print many of those rabbits to do an honorary “trouble with tribbles“ mission.

Though having them as guard rabbits has an appeal. Either as the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or just thinking of the sound a rabbit makes when it cries being used to set off alarms).

Thanks, It printed larger than I expected.

Next to a Dreadball Ref-Bot from Mantic on a 25mm base.

Just had a thought of my crew riding around on the back of these as mounts like packmules….PacRabbits ….I need help

Unfortunately the second one did not print out, it stuck to the bottom of my vat, well at least they wont breed out of control.

Heh, I printed mine at about 30 or 50% I think

The other one has a wee laser or missile launcher or something deployed. A bit of bite on the pack rabbits

After finishing the painting comp stuff a bit early this month, I moved on to some beasties.

Ferrox type 1. Still working in the base, but the beastie is done.

Hmm. The close up pics really show the printing pattern. It’s not so obvious at normal size.

Ext up is the dedfurd. Super simple scheme loosely based on rainforest frog colouration. Not trying to win prizes with these things

And finally the bile worm. Again, the base needs a touch of drybrushing on the rubble, but otherwise I’m done. I might hit it with gloss varnish to make it extra gooey looking actually…

I found out that Thri Kreen models work great as a Porigota.
I found at least one on Thingiverse, should be others other places.

They are all nicely painted, but I like the Ferrox especially. You mention it's a 3d print: where did you get it?
