I've been getting back into painting over the last six months or so after a twenty year gap and to try to learn the techniques properly I'm working back over some very old miniatures I found in the attic. This is a Space Marine Terminator from the old GW board game Space Hulk. I've painted him as a Blood Angel (not sure if the scheme is 100% authentic). It's my first time attempting glazes to try to get some smooth transitions on the armour. Didn't completely succeed but it's a start (I'm curious if people here generally mix the paint with Lahmian Medium or water for glazes. I used LM). Also my first time edge-highlighting. Tricky and again, mixed results, but I'm not completely disappointed so that's something.

Oh the nostalgia!

The painting looks good, all in the lines, shaded and highlighted.

With glazing, I tend to use water myself, though it might be making it more difficult for myself. I just find it a lot more convenient adding water from my water pot. My advice is to apply thin layers, even if it looks like it’s not doing anything. And also drag the brush in the direction you want the gradient to be strongest, where your brush stops and is lifted off the model is where the pigment will be strongest.

I’m quite new to glazing myself so I’m sure there’ll be more experienced peeps to give you more but overall you’ve done a good job

And again, love to see these old school models, so good!

Thank you both for the comments. I'm glad you liked it. Was fun to paint.
