I was looking around my studio one day and decided that I was tired of looking at this
So, I converted it to this
Then I figured that if I have a Dakka Jet, one of my friends will build a fighter of their own, which will of course need to be shot down, so...
But I wanted it mobile...
The Flakk Kanon is removeable so it can double as another trukk for my boyz.
I Then decided that my boyz needed some artillery
This one simple project snowballed into a real "If You Give A Mouse A cookie". Anyway, those mortars made me realize that my Def Korps needed some more Big Ass Gunz

Impressive! Are those built from Styrene, cardboard or something else? I'd be interested in your build process. =]

Jawdropping!
So is there a model under that Dakkajet or is it all plastic card?
Either way it is amazing.

It's mostly plasticard, but there are a couple chunks of ruins from a cityfight building.

Unfortunately, no, I didn't start keeping track of these builds until I started this thread. Here are some of the patterns I made in case I decided my Boyz needed even more big Dakka.

I did get some work done on the shield and the gun housing, as well as part of the actual carriage.

Looking good.
Yes keep track please, very inspirational.
Question: What are you cutting the plasticard with, especially the smooth curves? I only score with exactlo and snap the halfs. Beyond score and snap I had no luck.
Also, what are you using to glue the plasticard?
I guess I am not into scratch build as much as Id like to be, is because I never had luck with glues. Super glue gets slick on the plasticard and doesnot stick until fully dry. Plastic cement dont work on plasticard. So I always assumed that people are using something special for gluing and cutting plasticard.

Depending on the thickness of the plastic, I either score and snap it or cut the plastic with an exacto. For curves, I use a pin vice to drill holes and then various needle files to file the holes to the desired shape and size.
I'm using Zap-A-Gap superglue and Testors plastic cement. More often than not the superglue will stick pretty much on contact. It usually seems that the further the piece is from where I want it, the faster the glue will set. If I know I'll need to make some adjustments after I put the pieces together, I'll use the plastic cement. So far they both seem to be holding up pretty well. (Knock on wood) Nothing has come apart yet.

The pieces for the back part of the carriages. (Not sure what they're called)
I'll assemble them tomorrow since it's past my bedtime.

Finished the main structures! Now I have to add a whole bunch of gubbins and werky bitz and they'll be ready for the paint shed. (Along with a few dozen other things piled up on my workbench )

Forgot to add a pic of how the back legs attach and move. The "pins" just slide down into place and hold the legs to the carriage. Right now, they are in tight enough that they don't slide out. If this becomes a problem, however, I'll just glue a slightly larger circle onto the top of the pin and gravity will just hold it there.

Added some gubbins and werky bitz today. And with that, I think I'll call these happy little guns finished.

On to the next project, Heavy Bolters. I wanted to make them look like they would fit into the WWI style of the Death Korps, so I built them as water cooled machine guns. I used the Browning 1917 machine gun as my inspiration.
Now that the guns are finished, I needed to build their carriages. First up, the wheels.

A little progress. I built one completely just to make sure everything worked right. Now I just need to assemble all of the components.
