So I've tried three ways of painting the yellow armor of the Imperial Fists thus far. 1 didn't really match the actual Imperial Fists coloring (but I'm keeping him anyways), but I'm stuck on a choice between two methods.

Both start with a Zandri Dust spray priming and follow up with a Wraithbone Zenithal. The point of separation comes from the step of making the armor yellow:

Option 1 is to use Tamiya Orange Clear immediately after the priming. 1 layer all around, which ends up more like 1.5 layers, which makes the Yellow darker, nearly matching Averland Sunset.

The pros of this is that people seem to like the glossy finish better and that the glossy finish means it's easier to correct mistakes if I have a dry brush on hand and get at the mistake(s) quickly. The cons of this is that any mistakes I miss or can't get to quickly means having to match the Yellow color and go over it with a gloss coat, and that I find it fiddly to paint over a gloss coat and end up needing a minimum of two layers for everything (and even so, I feel I'll need to seal everything when done as I'm concerned that some of the paint may come off). Another con is that I can't really do a quick drybrush highlight; only layering. I tried Drybrushing on top of the gloss, but nothing seemed to stick.

Option 2 is to use Contrast Iyaden Yellow to make the Yellow. The first time I did this, I did two layers of a 1:3 mix of Contrast and Medium, then drybrushed Flash Gitz and Vallejo Model Color Light Yellow. However, I could also do two layers of 1:2 Contrast to medium and then follow up with Drybrushing Yriel Yellow and then VMC Light Yellow.

The pros to option 2 are that the Drybrush highlights will actually stick to the more satin paint, and that I can skip the wash step if I so desire. The big con though is that it will be a bigger pain to make corrections as it will take more layers to cover over mistakes with any darker colors.

I have examples of each approach below. Which do you think is the better approach, or is there another method that you feel would be easier and still look as good or better?
