Hello everyone! I got back into Battletech about six months ago and along with it, got back into painting. I'm not the fastest of painters, since life so often gets in the way, but I keep plinking away at my new collection. Here for your enjoyment (hopefully!) and critique are a few of my recent works. I do appreciate feedback, both positive and negative, so please tell me what you think!
First up are my Ghost Bears Valkyrie Galaxy forces. Yes, I know that they are supposed to be an aerospace force, but I just loved the color scheme so much.
Next, I have a Dragon painted in Third Benjamin Regulars colors.
I am working on several lancemates for the Dragon at the moment.
Next, I have an Awesome painted up in Warrior House Imarra colors from the Capellan Confederation.
I'm also working on a First Federated Sun Armored Cavalry force.
Finally, for those that aren't familiar with Battletech. Most of the original artwork came from Robotech/Macross. As an homage to that ancestry, I painted a Phoenix Hawk like a Veritech.
That's all for now, but I'll update the thread as I complete more minis!

I'd like to see the underneath bits be substantially darker. These are the size of buildings so they should have way more contrast between top and bottom surfaces.

That seems reasonable to me. I haven’t considered how to convey the scale of minis in my painting, so thank you for that!

Well done work. Better than my potato painting capacity.

A great collection of colour schemes. The Ghost Bear scheme is particularly pleasing. Thanks for sharing.

Exalted! Picked up the new starter set late last year, so will be keeping an eye on this for future inspiration when I get around to painting up my Griffin and Vindicator.

The mercenary unit Swann's Cavaliers uses a very similar scheme. I suspect it's also a tribute to Macross, one of the big inspirations for BattleTech.

I finished up another 'Mech. This one is a Cyclops, and I tried to bump the contrast up a bit more on this one than I did on the Dragon that I painted. Let me know what you think!
Here are the Cyclops and Dragon together.

I finished up another miniature. This one has been sitting on a shelf in my closet for years with just a coat of primer. The model itself was not great, because the legs leaned backward like it was in the middle of falling down, and the arms were way too long.
So, I did some cutting and repositioned the upper legs so it looks balanced, and shortened each arm. Green stuff was used to fill in the gaps and add some bulk and details to the cannon on it's shoulder so that it more closely matched the original artwork. I also added some details to the backpack, which was just a blank slab.
Finally, I painted it up in the Turkina Keshik colors of Clan Jade Falcon.

Nice painting and refitting of that model.

Not quite. Both FASA and Studio Nue bought designs from the same designer. FASA made Battletech. Studio Nue created Super Dimension Fortress Macross with those designs. Tatsunoku Production then created Robotech from Macross, which Harmony Gold distributed outside Japan.

Edge highlighting is not a good look.
